I need your help. Good. I did the download, second life. But what intrigues me is the capacity of my computer, adhéquate with SL. I joined here, the capacity of my computer. I do not know how to set the parameters that best fits my Hewlett Packard. If it can better informed ideas. Thank you all. Either my computer is too low in capacity, or it must be in adhéquation with SL. Basically, I do not know how. And I'm afraid of being wrong.

No that isn’t the one I am using, get this one Claude, just click the link and it will download.

http://downloads.phoenixviewer.com/windows/Phoenix_Viewer-1.6.0.1600_RELEASE_SSE2.exe

You can have as many viewers as you like Claude, I have 2 on my computer, all you do is sign in with your username and password in any viewer and all your things will be there in SL for you.

Claude, your computer is  very good to run SL (but we know nothing about the graphics card, the most important) and I agree with Data. I don't want to promote an obsolete viewer just because it's perfect for my prehistoric computer.

Cool SL session Data (I love Amsterdam since my first day in SL, too)!

Last night, something horrible happened in my SL. I was "in action". Suddenly the music stopped. Then the image became grey (gray?) and poof (like we say in SL)!! I was disconnected, not because of SL, the viewer or something else, but my internet connexion was broken (maintenance or real failure?).

This morning, my internet was back when I woke up. Sometimes it's not so bad to go to real bed before 3am. ;)

Oh! I understand better now. Yes, you're right Datahopa, Phoenix, is a different viewer. It is very powerful, from the description. I do not understand that second-life, does not speak the Phoenix because it is popular with users. Thank you my friend, Datahopa, I am trying, to download it. I'll be able to keep my old account. Thank you very much!  (Phoenix version 1.6.0) O0 O0 ;)

Gt40, yes, yes. on my side I tried one last time the new version. But nothing works, so I took the version that I recommend our friend DataHopa. Finally, I hope, to discuss with you in SL. I had the version 2010, it works perfectly. But the 2012 version is horrible, it consumes huge memory resources, and bios, panics. This is scaring me. I think with Phoenix, it will be better. ;) O0

Yes GT, we don’t know what graphics card Claude is using, I was going to try asking but then thought it would be easier just to try the newer Phoenix viewer, if it doesn’t work in that then my guess is that it isn’t going to work at all.

But maybe you know better about getting SL to run on lower-end graphics cards than me GT  :).

I’ve been away form SL for too long, and have fallen behind, I admit ;)

The download is still in progress. I think it will work.
Here are the details of the graphics card.

Yes your computer should be able to play SL Claude  O0

I am a little worried about your Internet connection speed, I download the Phoenix viewer in about 10 seconds.

You do need a good fast connection for SL really.

I often use this tool:

http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/

and choose the connection to San Francisco (where most SL computers are supposed to be located).

So I can increase the Maximum Bandwith (in Preferences) to 1000 kbps (and more) if the speed is good. My ADSL provider gives me a fantastic speed between midnight and midday (fortunately, when I'm in SL, lol). Not like that all the time...

DataHopa, yes. I'm not ADSL, because here the fast connection does not work. I have a WIFI satellite. It is also an advantage for external connection, This system is being tested for 5 years here. But I do like Gt40, said. Make a parameter to the platforms of San Francisco. This is probably an advantage, to avoid disruption of connection, from Europe to the world. I'll try this setting. O0

Claude, did you try my link? On the web, there are tons of sites testing the connection speed. I love this one because most of the sites we use are located in the USA. Nice to know how the connection works to the main cities (incredible difference between East and West coast, tested from Europe. Try it at different hours of the day.

American people are lucky: they don't need to cross oceans to go to SL.
American people are lucky: they don't pay a VAT to LL (19.6 % in France).
American people are lucky: SL is American...

Just an idea: maybe you could use a network connection between the PC and the modem (always better than wifi). I have a good friend in SL. He was always complaining about crashes, with a laptop (Sony Vaio) and wifi. Now he doesn't crash anymore: his motherboard burnt (I know, not funny). ;D
