A new departure for my SL... I was using the Windows 7 of my netbook for several months (my old desktop under XP is always working but I stopped to use it for SL). Now, time to test Windows 8 on my new toy (Asus Transformer Book T100). Amazing experience.

Always with my favorite viewer (Singularity). The default settings of the Intel HD Graphics are "High" (Draw Distance: 128 m). Of course, that little machine isn't a PC for gamers (remember I'm not a gamer, lol) but again, a very amazing toy.

The only thing I have to learn (really) is how to act in SL with a touchscreen!!! ;)

Thanks Freddy. No doubt that everything runs faster, but I'm unable to say if it's the fault of W8, or of my poor previous PCs. ;D

Hello everyone! Yes, despite a lot of bad events in my real life, I continue to travel in SL, but now in a different way. Oh, by the way, I don't understand the stupid comparision Second Life vs. Facebook. Not my problem... ;)

Of course I'm testing my little Asus Transformer Book. Not easy to use a touchscreen in SL, especially with the menus (a mouse, more accurate, always works better). I must try a stylus soon. The GPU isn't a top card for gamers but just what I wish, perfect for me.

A second life for my Second Life. O0

What have you got against mice GT ?

Why not plug a nice little cordless one in ?

I'm curious, that's all  :)

Lol Data, no problem. Of course a mouse is handier.

Explanation: I mainly use the touchscreen in my bed, for movies, apps or Google. When the day is back, the PC is on a table with its mouse, like any normal computer. So I can be a normal user again. :)

After Singularity, I'm finally testing Firestorm and the official Second Life viewer v.3 on my little toy. Never too late. ;)

I can't say if Windows 8.1 is faster or not... but I'm SURE it's very difficult (and not funny) to use a touchscreen in SL instead of a mouse/keyboard.

And also, I must LEARN the viewers! ;D

Hello! Sorry for waking up. Today I'm testing the Radegast viewer. Supposed to be better for touchsreens. But... I don't understand why. Back to the old good Singularity from the past. ;D

Hi Freddy, of course SL runs as a charm with a mouse, on a table, like with any computer. But during the night (most people are in SL during long nights ;)), no mouse in my bed (possible but not handy), only the keyboard and the touchscreen (and a stylus).

I can move with the arrows and "Alt", interact with an object by a tap on the screen, but all that is limited, not like with a mouse. I guess, the same thing with any game.

I watched some videos about the question but got no real answer. I'm always looking for a specific SL viewer for touchscreens. If anyone has the solution, thanks in advance. :)

LOL Freddy. ;) Oops, I just found this viewer (for phones):

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lumiyaviewer.lumiya

For Android, not sure it can work on my PC... ::)

Yes you could run an Android SL viewer in Windows but you will first need to install an "Android emulator".

Bear in mind anything run through an emulator isn't going to be a quick as the real thing.

Here is a list of some of the good ones.

Many thanks Data. An emulator, I didn't know that was possible. I will try one of them.

Before I bought my little Asus T100, I saw many articles and videos about the Asus T300. A lot better and more expensive. But with an amazing difference: possibility to switch from Windows to Android (maybe the only computer able to do that).

Today the T300 runs with Windows only... Microsoft didn't enjoy the previous one. Hey guys, who's the boss?. :)

Sorry GT but my Asus TF300T runs Android 4.x.x and tons of apps from the Google Play store!
Love it. I even sprung for the matching keyboard that allows for hot-swapping to convert to just
the tablet portion. I practically don't leave home without it! Especially for work!
