Title: Unity : Water Simulator Assets
Post by: Freddy on June 16, 2017, 02:26:45 am
One of the things I got stuck on with Unity was decent water simulations - I mean oceans and lakes. One thing I have learnt not to do now is buy every asset that makes me go Wow ! So these I just thought I would share and maybe come back to.

Thing about Unity is that you can spend, spend and then spend. And it is fun - but to get an end result with just one person is probably not going to happen. I think it still needs a decent team. But it's fun to dabble.

So anyway, two water assets for you to look at, showing waves, buoyancy and things... Either would be great for a virtual world and an AI dolphin to talk to.

While I liked the demo of the buoy which I felt was pretty realistic with its motion / movement, the galleon, on the other hand, seems very toy-like, as if it were about 20 cm long or so, while in a bathtub environment.

To me, it should have been sized much larger and given more mass (if such a thing is even possible within the constraints of Unity). Larger ships like this galleon should be slower with its rise, fall and listing toward each side.

I realize that this was a demo of the water and not necessarily the models shown, which I thought was nicely done with the Unity engine.

Thanks for sharing, Freddy. O0
