AI Analog Chips
« on: July 17, 2022, 05:00:06 pm »
The approach of using analog circuits to do neural computations has benefits of lower power consumption and fewer components for performing those computations. IBM has developed a chip where the data and computation are done in the same location. There is another company called Mythic which uses a similar concept.

So basically this kind of architecture doesn't suffer from the von Neumann bottleneck where data needs to be retrieved from working RAM into cpu registers. I did contact Mythic about their products and there are no products available or deliverable yet.

Ive got an idea for a super computing architecture,    I think if you put one of those stick man physics games into physical gates, you can get thousands of trillions of game physics samples per second,  and use them as the sampling budget for the computer to do virtual trials for what it does in its sorrounding environment.

Ive got an electronics style with resistors and capacitors going->

If I get that working I should be able to put it in the form of physics processor unit running stick man physics,  soft body dynamics are a good approximation to real life.

That...   would be diabolical,  Igor.   It would be a super soldier.

What I enjoy about analog technology is the results achieved without being plugged into an electric socket are significant.  Music played on an old wind-up Victrola (record player) is loud and clear enough.

That is analogue what u just said,  but analogue means electricity as well,   anything that doesnt use binary, is classed as analogue.  So I think computers that use base 10 instead of base 2, are actually analogue computers, not digital.  Digital just means binary only.

Id like a non-electrical pneumatic robot too,  would be my prize winner.
