Title: AI and some crumbly old Philosopher ? Surely not!
Post by: Freddy on September 16, 2005, 09:23:29 am
Yet more philosphical ideas here that go so well with the whole idea of modelling the human brain. I Wonder how long it will take to make such a thing? Well needless to say, but Philosphers have spent thousands of years trying to understand the human brain, so that might give us some idea. Surely this is first base for anyone hoping to make a mind in a machine.

Anyway, whatever the case this link leads to a lot of philosphical work on the mind and human condition and correspond to some of the discussions here on modelling of the human brain: Starting with Descartes (http://www.philosophypages.com/hy/4d.htm) .

Quote:

"At the outset of the Third Meditation, Descartes tried to use this first truth as the paradigm for his general account of the possibilities for achieving human knowledge. In the cogito, awareness of myself, of thinking, and of existence are somehow combined in such a way as to result in an intuitive grasp of a truth that cannot be doubted."
