Carnegie Mellon University Artificial Intelligence Repository.
Ages ago Dante brought this book to my attention :
http://www.amazon.com/materials-University-Artificial-Intelligence-Repository/dp/188195711X
Just look at the price...
For some reason, perhaps I was bored, perhaps by alien intervention, maybe through a need to always complete things....who knows... I went searching and found the online version.
Before you get all excited I should warn you that in many terms the material is old and out of date. And it's not a carefully crafted site, with nice menus and all the things we are so fond of now. But there's probably something of interest in there if you want to go digging. I found some useful information on CYC, and a lot of AI FAQ's.
Who knows what you will find. But I am sure you would rather try this than spend all that money on 'freeware' :

I'm well aware of both that CD and the site.
The reason I've been so desperate to get the CD is that half the site's links are broken. :/

Well, the site and info is over 5 years old so it really doesn't surprise me that there are lots of broken links. People move on to other venues, lose interest, business, life, etc.
Dante, Were they not receptive when you tried to contact them (CMU) regarding the CD?
Someone, somewhere has a copy of it.... ;)
