Hi Ranch
Yeah! 16 Titan Ti's is gonna sting but there half the price of a tx, only 2816 CUDA cores instead of 3072 but at £450 (sterling)... frikken good deal, and where needs must!
With my project I'm looking for the essence of intelligence. I look through all the latest medical/ AI research white papers from all the universities/ corporations etc. I note their research in my database and take it all with a pinch of salt. I don't take any research as fact, I try to look at the whole, and if it was true... how it would fit into an overall architecture.
I use Neurogenisis in it's true sense, because my design utilizes spatial-temporal structures I can insert/ generate Neurons at locations of high activity, where the resolution needs to be enhanced.
How many cells/ Neurons? I can run 30k neurons with 190k sysnapse on one cpu at the moment, but the software is designed so each block runs within an 3D hexagonal space, and the areas can be run on separate cpu/ gpu's sharing their cross boarder axons/ synapse through a memory/ ram disk on the master Beowulf server.
Here's one cortical column ( and it's feedback reflection (other side of cortex)) in real time...
How far of finishing? Hahahahahaahahaah! OMG! Ok...
Honestly I'm not sure... If I could work full time then not long (ish)... I obviously have to run my businesses to make a crust which cuts massively into my time... I'm also building a sensory body for my AGI... 3D physics engines etc just don't do the job, and a true AGI's going to need a body to experience the world.
I can get object recognition working fine, I can get an audio cortex recognizing phonemes just dandy (not cool word but..), attention, planning... yep! all through exactly the same design of neural network... but bringing it all together... into one coherent biomass... I don't sleep much.
Look!... I think like this, natures not daft, we need to look and learn... were not going to solve the true AGI problem with normal coding techniques. Living creatures are made of goo, neurons, synapse, dendrites and supporting cells. Birds, dogs, cats, slime mold, ants all exhibit some level of intelligence... how... why? That's what we need to find and utilize. Serial machines are useless for hard coding a true AGI, but for simulating the chemistry, physics needed to nurture one... perfect.
I have many AGI's stored on disk... but my design is very unpredictable, and without the millenia of DNA fine tuning we enjoy... not yet!... It's fun though!
