I'm really depressed with life,   I don't think any of it works without god intervening every two seconds to keep the lie alive.
Taking the athiest's stand point, living in a scientific world of cause and effect just spells certain doom for you If you stop deluding yourself that its perfectly safe where we are, but its the only world where you have any power over your sorroundings, even tho its not enough to keep you alive, without god helping you behind your back.

There will always be forces beyond our control whether we ascribe them to random processes or some incomprehensible design, but as long as we're alive there will be some things which we can control, so we should focus on those.

Theres lots of control yeh!   You could possibly make an amazing hospital robot that could do a way better job than a human can, and make everyone live longer, but theres always that off chance for a slip up somewhere else in your life,  accidents,  u have to take into account everything or eventually something is going to get you, no matter how well your doing.

And these slip ups (serious ones that are unavoidable I'm thinking.) reduce all your efforts to nothing, as a sentient being in charge of its own life,   gone... all your responsibilities and powers.

Your evaluation of the situation is incomplete, and also incorrect.

First, if you look at the real stats, you'll see that the probabilities of bad things happening to you are actually very low. For example, you probably won't have a car accident today, it's very very unlikely. So there are "slip-ups" as you call them, but you need to be honest about their probabilities of happening.

Then, your evaluation is far from being complete. You have more than enough conditions to be happy. Take a sheet of paper, and begin the list of good things you have. Maybe you have two arms and two legs? that's good, isn't it. Maybe your eyes are in good condition, and you're not blind? that's a good thing. You probably don't have a toothache right now? that's a VERY good thing! can you walk just a few meters to the kitchen and drink a bit of tap water? that is just awesome, you don't have to walk for half an hour to bring back a big heavy water-can.

You see, there are bad things, but there are also good things. In my opinion, you're focusing mainly on the bad things.
Restore the balance → look at the real probabilities, and take everything into account, not only the bad things, but also the good things.

Thanks for the kind words.
But... It seems that way yes,  because god is always there preventing it from happening, unbeknowst to the common person.
I wish I was in charge of my own life. But it seems to be an impossible thing to wish for, Taking the miracles from your life makes it impossible to live,  but having the miracles, makes u not in charge anymore, or even needed at all in a global sense.

Have you seen god intervening in a way that would break the laws of physics as we know them? No. That's why you are in charge of your own life, remember. The only way god intervenes, is through your faith. But even that is left to your choice, you can choose to believe or not. You're in charge.

How much of your thinking would change if god said to you "keep fit or die" (and help your family survive as well)...

Id still feel the pointlessness of god being able to save me even if he chose not to.

Life is supposed to be about being social and a role model to new young people...

TV hypnotises people to think about war and have dagger hands, then follow orders or give up... that's not what life is supposed to be about...
