Buddy James wrote an interesting introduction into machine learning (http://refactorthis.net/post/2013/02/19/Machine-Learning-5-examples-of-what-it-is-and-why-you-should-care.aspx) concepts by means of some youtube videos. Pretty interesting stuff.

Thanks, that was really interesting.  Really enjoyed the machine life one with the round 'bots' and spikes for killing each other.  Kind of ironic, given the final video that he has a recaptcha on his comments form.

True. but from my experience, it's still better with then without the captcha's
