   Um? Growth and adaptation.  Combining #1 and #2 to make #4

   You seem to be unable to accept that a living machine could be relatively static. Once it?s made, it works really well, it has friends and a social life, it loves its pets and adopted children, it worries about advancing age and the strength of the dollar in the international markets, and it does all this exactly the same way, all the time, forever and ever, Amen.

   I will give you that more complex relationships between components makes it more interesting, but not that the increase in complexity is a requirement of Life.  I would give Life a little more leeway. We have many examples of life which do not increase in complexity in any way, so it falls to you to demonstrate the requirement.

   I suggest you edit #4 to read ? 1) Mutable data paths between components? and move it down to ?Artificial Intelligence?.
