shelf stocking algorithm

intro : robots replacing wageslaves

I haven't really found such and algorithm. it's not just stuff products into the shelf, it is much more.
you want to display all the kinds of merch. you want it to sit nice and sorted. plus you have special cases :
too little merch. too much merch.
sometimes this will depend on the products shape.

then you have the case of the green grocer.

Visual merchandising is an artform and not so easily mechanized. However there are kinds of products and kinds of shelves that can automatically feed products forward as it is taken from the selves. For some kinds of products (e.g. dairy) supermarkets can be designed so that the products are loaded into the back of the shelf feeds, directly from the cold store. You don't necessarily need robots for most of this.

The other approach is to do away with retail altogether and go the Amazon way. There you have robots retrieving stock from the warehouse but you still have humans packing the boxes to be dispatched.

the whole point is to replace all humans, and introduce the world to the purple wage. plus having kawaiibots where you shop
not like what we have nowadays, bitter workers putting customers on discourage, stocking shelfs like they have brain problems, putting
product x in several shelfs like some rubics cube. mispricing products. at any rate bottom line is
it is never a why, it is always a how.

shouryuken !

shelf stocker skeleton alg:
remove merch
sort removed merch in temp area (in most case that area is the shelf itself)
fill in new merch, then old sorted merch

special cases :
exp checking
FIFO or LIFO
diversity of products on display
very little items of product x
super packed stuffing/ diluted stuffing
left overs

shelf stocker alg lv2 :
exp check
remove merch
sort removed merch in temp area
if quantity > shelf space : set fill mode to stuffed, set overflow replicated amount to storage
fill in new merch, then old sorted merch
kinds not displayed ? remove sample colomn of replicated meerch
and replace with undisplayed merch
left over room ? if yes move chunk of merch on shelf to make room
fronts.

there is also the 1 box case, in which you only make room for 1 box
but you can also redo the whole shelf, I guess it depends on the time amount of work that day at that moment

update :

shelf stocker alg lv4 :
exp check
remove merch
sort removed merch in temp area
if quantity > shelf space : set fill mode to stuffed, set overflow replicated amount to storage
fill in new merch, then old sorted merch
dilute : try to place merch of not full columns into merch replicated not full columns, this goes for items of very low quantity
kinds not displayed ? remove sample colomn of replicated merch
and replace with undisplayed merch
left over room ? if yes move chunk of merch on shelf to make room
fronts

special case : tea : there are so many kinds each one is allocated one row.
when sorting into the shelf(setting a palomgrame) this can be sorted by :
name or ingridients or supplier, color, shape
