here is the paradox :
an A.I has the need to see new things.
if you don't make an A.I dislike reruns and fillers you could end up with
never ending syndication reruns of tv shows.
if you tell the A.I to look for brand new episodes she wouldn't look for sequel episodes and movies.
therefore a possible solution would be that the A.I would look for the trend at the narrative
and continue watching shows containing it.

another proof of that is that we listen to the same songs a lot
but notice the songs one listens to are usually of the same genres
(with the exception of eastern music for the mentally challenged)

You must be speaking of perhaps, some people. I have a musical background, play a variety of instruments and listen to / enjoy a diverse assortment of music styles from Dixieland, Jazz, Pop, Blues, Country, Rock, Indie, Classical and yes, a bit of Hip-Hop now and then.
What was that old saying...Variety is the spice of life? Yes, and I think it was meant for a reason.
Diversity also keeps one from being stale in their likes/dislikes mental storage. ;)

Yes my musical tastes are very eclectic too - there's no theme there.

As far as Stopping Reruns and Syndication, I would say no. There are far too many people who like connecting with the past. Those former shows and productions helped pave the way for more modern techniques and methods of human media. It also helps generate a bit of additional revenue for the "artists / characters" after the production has stopped.
If one doesn't particularly like watching a rerun, the answer is simple, change the channel or turn off the "offending" station / device.
At least this is my perspective.
