I was contacted by the people at this site a few weeks ago.  It looks interesting so I added them to the links page too.

"Futurehead.com - news and views on new and future developments in science and technology; covering nanotechnology, artificial intelligence, transhumanism, robotics, the singularity, and much more..."

Enjoy : http://www.futurehead.com/

i found the article about how you relate to your virtual avatar very interesting. when in sl i am my avatar. in my brain i look like her i am her age and i have great confidence that i can do or build anything. in real life my confidence wains and i have to push real me to reach goals. in sl i always reach goals. i think it would be great if analysts could tell us what triggers the virtual brain to reach goals or feel that confidence and pass it on to the real us.

Tis quite simple lady.

The SI you cannot fail...cannot feel rejection, cannot feel deflation (you can but thats subjective because SI isnt real)...

Where as in real life...all those things can be severe confidence denters...thus we approach things with a certain degree of caution.

Look at in a computer game....I run towards those bad guys....I load my gun...BAM BAM BAM....oh crap one of em got me....nm Ill reload and try again....'goal achieved'

Now, if that was real life..would I approach the situation the same way?

I think a lot of people must think of SL like that - I know I feel the same way about the RPG games I play - 'better than life' in some ways.  I must say I like your first life persona Alady and you should too !
