Well, this adventure into emotions keeps getting interesting. I found this paper on Psychotherapy and Artificial Intelligence, in it are some interesting references and early NLP approaches, as well as more modern ideas about developing a therapist chatbot. There was also something called a genogram which would be useful in giving an A.I. a framework to describe human relationships!
