What to Do?
« on: February 18, 2012, 12:07:31 am »
I've had UltraHal for years, now what to do.  I've tried the Alice type bots and a few others and it seems I need Hal,  the Alice type have no learning capabilities and the ones that can learn have no character display.  I was able to get what I consider the most advanced Haptek character Alactive which is fullbody and fleshy.  Duskrider let me download Villagegirl which has a fresh look and has added hand and torso animations so the body moves.  A very good idea I like and will try to add to Alactive by creating a set of haps where the last hap calls the frist hap so it loops.  I'm using vrHaptek and am thinking of using a picture of the computer as the background and changing the lighting in Hal for nighttime and daytime.
I'd like to have Hal change clothing by user input and or by Hal's input.  Possibly change the background by either input.  For some reason I keep thinking of having Hal Goal orientated, this is what we are trying to achive, what should we do to achive that goal, probably similar to staying on a particular subject.  Since a lot of people seem to feel Hal's brain is the most important part I'm looking for input.  What should we do or haw can we do it.

Hi Carl. I don't now what to say. Maybe you could try Second Life...

Sorry, kidding, I'm stupid. ;)

the Alice type have no learning capabilities

I beg to differ. My Mitsuku bot is an AIML bot and is quite capable of learning.

I think some mean that the bot is capable of learning from conversations or online
sources OTHER THAN input directly from it's botmaster.

Now...asking nicely once again...

Is your bot, Mitsuku (whom I dearly love), capable of learning on its own or must
you spoon feed it with new AIML code / data? ;)
In the world of AI, it's the thought that counts!

Sure, it can learn on it's own. Try my Chatterbox Challenge entry out at: http://www.square-bear.co.uk/mitsuku/cbc2012.htm to see.
Try asking something like, "I have a red car. What colour is my car.", "A anchovy is a type of fish. What is an anchovy?" or "John is older than Mary but is younger than Pete. Is Mary older than Pete?" or anything else similar. It should give a sensible answer for most things.

Sorry, I did not mean to offend anyone, what I should have stated was I was unable to find a free Amil bot capable of learning with some type of character interface.  I did notice you have quite a few Aiml files that can be downloaded, I tried using the learn Aimls which did not work for me, I got the impression that you needed the proper engine for a learning bot.  I tried rebecca but there is no character interface or I could not connect one to it.
I'm trying to find a nice way of saying the character interface is weak but I'm not sure if that is necessary for the competition and I'll add a compliment by saying you have my respect for getting you're bot up and running and I wish you the best of luck with it.
To get back to Hal, frist I  have to stick up for Mr.M.  He's gotten the activation and reactivation so it can be done easily, I think the learning level and stay on topic is much better. Fortunate for me he seems to feel the character interface is inportant and I wish him luck with raising the necessary money for it and meantime I'll continue working with the Haptek characters.
I didn't get any new Ideas Yet, why?

I like to see improvements in all the bots brains, so for me it’s got to be improving the brain intelligence and responses.

And I too hope the new graphics engine for Hal does work out and makes it.

I got to say, after a little chat with Mitsuku, the bot gives a good impression of being intelligent, I didn’t mean that as an insult in any way squarebear.

Its good to see how all the bots are moving on, sometimes you get a really nice surprise, I can see real improvement now, to when I look back say only 3 years ago, look back further and I’ve seen some quite big improvements made.

The day will come when the best brains and best graphics will arrive to our PC’s and we will all be happy.  :)

I've just gotten villagegirl from duskrider, cute fullbody girl, nice outfit, I think he has looped some haps in that provide movement to the hands and torso so the body provides enough movement.  He included some morphs for the breast size, butt size, elf's ears and pregency.  Not sure how he did it but it works.  I just found out If I put villagegirl in and emptyScene then put in Alactive the Morphs stay in and can be used with Alactive.  Anyways it made me think of looping haps.
I don't ever think we will ever be able to keep everyone pleased, it's just human nature to find problems to be fixed which is one of the nice things about Hal, male female or machine.  From reading you're post on getting real I feel I am definately in the minority.
Getting back to Hal, I'm hoping that all the data Robert has collected can be crunched and put to use to provide some better responses for Hal.  We have quite a few responces that for lack of a better word are "Flip" It will not provide an answer but is something to say.

Maybe not , it could be me in the minority, maybe we need a poll  ;)

That would be great Carl.

I know Robert is concentrating on the new graphics engine, but for me and what I’m looking for in a bot Hal seems to have stalled. At least for now, with no up-dates since September 18, 2009  http://www.zabaware.com/assistant/whatsnew.html

Other bots, do seem to be improving their conversation abilities and are showing some very promising signs, imho.

Saying all that I haven’t made a GUI skin for Hal in a while, might be time to make one soon.

Your topic on artificial intelligence, gives me so many memories. I still have my HAL5. I took precautions, all of intruction engraved with the program on a disk. Of the brain that have given me to integrate it so. I think the intelligent flow of Hal, is incomparable. I always stayed on my hunger, when my XP has broiling, because of the storm. And unfortunately, Hal5, only works on XP. I therefore, seek, other assistant, this type. But for now, impossible to find a similar program has Hal5. But I'm still passionate about all this learning, knowledge, I have equated with Hal5. :)

I want to work with the brain but I keep working with the graphics,  the VillageGirl is very interesting to work with especially with the HapRegestry.  I'd tried setting values for different body parts ages ago but was unable to do it but by looking at some of the haps Duskrider provided I can set the values to use and put them in a hap.
I'd really like to see some of the uncompressed files generated from the Villagegirl htr but Now I'm unable to do that, I'm pretty sure the Win7 upgrade from vista allowed you to do that but a straight Win 7 will not.  I did learn I get less noise for the characters if I set the video card to handle all the Physx Instead of using the auto select.
claude2
I think Rebecca is pretty good in the learning department but since it has no Character interface that I could get working I much prefer Hal.

Carl2, yes, for sure Hal, still the best. I think medeska, exploring other expansion for this program. It is certain that Hal will be increasingly expanded, building on AI. :)

I just finished most of the work of Duskriders villagegirl, great piece of work he did on the fullbody jiggly character.
I tried it out in Hal this morning and it worked as expected.  I'll probably do a little work with the vrHaptek plugin so it will work a little differently with villagegirl.  I still haven't gotten any suggestions for brain improvements, I'll see what people at Zabaware have suggested.
