Where does genius come from?

Accomplishing anything worthwhile in life takes a combination of intelligence, resources, leadership, and relentless effort.

Before Katie became the first female RoboKnight, the team competed in one tournament a year, where they usually placed just shy of last. After Katie became co-captain, she lobbied the school for a bigger budget, ran daily practices and made the boys stop naming variables in their code “thingy.” She recruited other girls and found chaperones so they could enter tournaments throughout the Northeast.

I think it’s more obvious with athletics; “What makes someone as good at tennis as Federer?” But whatever a neural net optimizes itself for, the same principles are at work. I’d guess:

Resultant Level of Genius = [number of neurons] X [plasticity, let’s say 1/age] X [time spent optimizing]

Eh, competing virtues... IMO.

nono, more data yes, more intelligence yes, but the age/plasticity thing you mention is not changing the intelligence nor how much data it gets, simply as the AI gets older it gets more data...and so the intelligence algorithm begins ignoring exploring and begins doing its exploitation/specialization.

As for the "time spent optimizing" this too doesn't add more data or intelligence algorithm, I will say though as it learns data it can add new rules or even hardwire in brain new code rules and hence get more out of data than before! For ex. I can learn about being able to see reflections off wood to see around corners a cat face even though not visible at all by "doing it by hand in my noggin" OR installing code into my brain.

So: data,  AI, and ability to learn new AI.

I think it’s more obvious with athletics; “What makes someone as good at tennis as Federer?”

I'm going to bring astrology into this because my work involves this as well. Most of the best tennis players have their Mars(sport) or other "attacking" energy in Cancer(light optimism poise-position) area of their mind. This has been common for so long it's affected the atmosphere of wimbledon, elite tennis sports clubs etc as they all have an air of light optimism as well.

The exceptions are Kerber and some others who have "attacking" aspects in Capricorn(burning optimistic reader), and other players who are more "general sportsmen/women" who have very bold communication and precision and the ability to read emotions (Nick Kyrgios).

But because of the rules of tennis, and how some games last 3-5 hours a lighter attitude can be better combined with optimism and precision. So someone like Federer has it the easiest.

On intelligence in general, the more "spread" you have over every astrological sign the more intelligent you tend to be as each sign is 1/12th of your actual mind. Some people, like Federer and Harry Styles have this spread out over half of the chart/mind (generally the maximum). Another way is to have multiple grand trines / a star of david and this covers more space as well. People like Beyonce who have 90% of their energy(the way they do things) stuck over one sign doesn't make you very intelligent/flexible but it can make you unbeatable at what you specialise in, and you wonder why other people can't do what you do, but you need other people in your life ( other perspectives.)
