5 Geekiest Sci-Fi Movies at Sundance 2009
« on: January 27, 2009, 02:10:56 pm »
Found this via Digg (which I am using a lot at the moment) it's about some new indy Sci-Fi movies:

Quote:

"The Sundance Film Festival is usually associated with quaint and quirky independent films—hardly the kind of features that get geeks lined up for weeks, in costume. But while limited budgets might prevent Sundance directors from pulling out Lucas-esque special effects, they can still ask and answer serious questions about science and technology. After all, some of the best sci-fi movies were made on shoestring budgets. Mad Max, for example, was made for just $400,000, and proved that you need little more than a few piles of junk and some leather jackets to create a convincing post-apocalyptic world. At this year’s just-concluded festival, science fiction took on a higher profile than in past years, with three buzz-worthy features and a number of shorts. While most of them probably won’t end up in a theater near you anytime soon, some just might."
