A look at my new PC
« on: June 22, 2007, 01:02:58 am »
Since we were talking earlier today about the new PC i'm building to replace
my old graphics PC. I thought I'd post this here so you could have a look at
the insides along with a listing of what all is being put into it. I'll post a list of
the operating specs as soon as I get it all finished and running.

ATX case 10 drive bays. (new)

Socket "A" Motherboard (new)

AMD Athlon XP 2300+ CPU 1.8GHz. (new)

2 - 512MB PC2700 DDR DIMM 333MHz CL2.5 overclocking RAM chips. (new)

Creative SoundBlaster Audigy LS SurroundSound PCI card. (salvaged)

ATI Radeon X1300 Pro Graphics AGP card. (new)

ATI All-In-Wonder TV Tuner PCI card. (salvaged)

Floppy drive. (new)

DVD ROM drive. (refurb)

DVD-RW Dual Layer drive. (new)

320GB E-IDE HD master. (salvaged)

160GB E-IDE HD slave. (salvaged)

10/100 LAN. (new)

SmarTec Data/fax Modem. (salvaged)

450 Watt Power Supply. (new)

2 - 80mm Case mount cooling fans. (salvaged)

1 - 120mm case mount fan w/LED's. (new)

1 - 19 inch LCD Monitor; 1- 17 inch LCD Monitor. (salvaged)

It was just too bad that I couldn't
find a dual-core CPU for a socket "A"
motherboard, but from what I understand
there were none made because the socket
"A" boards are not being made anymore by
anyone. They are being totally phased out.

The last parts will be here tomorrow. Those are the DVD ROM drive and the 120mm fan.
Then install the OS and set the final CMOS configuration, should have that done by Sunday.
Then Monday I'll start installing all my graphics, maintenance & security, and programming
softwares, plus my various chatbots and Dragon 8. Those will take me 3 or 4 days to install,
and another 3 or 4 days to properly configure.

Looks nice, I see you have huge amount of storage!  Nice sound option too, also I like the idea of the 19" mointor, I am thinking of getting one myself so I'd be glad to hear about how good the model you chose is.

I think AMD is the better choice for a CPU at the moment too, the prices are really competative still.

I hope you enjoy your new machine Gamer and good luck with putting it all together.

Thanks Freddy.

I have two LCD's hooked into this one a 19inch for the primary and a 17inch for the secondary extended desktop.
The 19 is an ACER brand and I really like it, it was only $!79.00 U.S. the 17inch is by Balance Digital Technology,
I grabbed that one on special at WalMart a couple years ago. I managed to finish getting it all put together tonight
with the help of my niece's boy. Just finished installing the OS (Win XP Pro SP2). Here's a shot of what it looks like.  ;D

Looking good  ;D  If Acers are that good I will take a look at one, I've seen the prices are good here too for those.  Many thanks.

Would anyone have some idea as to why my new PC is having trouble logging into zabaware forum?
I've got all the internet settings checked exactly the same as my other PC and laptop, but this one
seems to not want to go there or let me log in.  ??? Never had this problem before with a newly
installed OS or browser. Of course I haven't had a chance to install my Hal on this one yet either,
or any other bot for that matter.  ::)

Gamer,

Just a thought but have you checked your Firewall and other security settings?
In the world of AI, it's the thought that counts!

Yep, I did Art. I have everythings adjusted exactly the same on this one as I have it on the
others. I'm thinking maybe it's just something along what Freddy said. Either that or there
was some kind of internet bottleneck, but that would be very unlikely, especially on a weekend.
When I tried early this morning, I didn't have any problem at all getting on at zaba.

Gamer,
Same thing here, I haven't run into problems at Zabaware but have at AI Dreams.  I just restarted this computer and tried again, it worked this time.
Couldn't email to your forum, I posted the file at AI under Haptek fulbody.
