A minimalist AI Dreams for non-members?
« on: December 04, 2008, 03:51:26 pm »

As written elsewhere, if I connect to AI Dreams without been logged in, I only can see the "AI Dreams" and "Robotics\Challenges" sections on the screen. After logging in, the whole forum is visible. :(

Same thing after emptying the browser cache and deleting all the cookies, on my both computers.

It's me or what? If non-members (normal people, lol) can't visit the forum, it might become very disturbing. ::)

Hi GT,

I took the liberty the other day (maybe 3 or 4 days ago now lol) to only allow 'guests' access to the AIDreams section of the forum.

Just something I'm playing with, see if get more genuine members, more members at all...or whether or not we have become static in our genuine numbers here.

Also, had half a mind that with so many bots around, especially spam ones and our recent issues with spam attacks, it might help keep poeple away from us, and genuine people can get a taster of what we offer and then join if they wish to read more etc.

Again, just an experiment, but know many many forums do not allow guest access to most of the forum, so just thought I'd give it a try.

So far, your the first and only person to either notice, or say anything lol :)

Oh now I understand, Mav! Not a bad idea, for getting some statistics about the traffic. And maybe a way to reduce spam. Not a problem for members.

I guess I'm the only one who noticed that because "normal" members always stay logged in. In my case, I delete the cookies and clean the IE cache every day. Nobody must know where I surf every night. Neither the NSA, neither my family... :o ;D

Many thanks to the management. :)

I remember the time I discovered DigitalGirl, lol. Maybe I never registered if it had been impossible to view the treasures it contained before. 8)

Nice try...but the No Such Agency knew where you went as soon as you went there. Erasing after the fact was a moot issue in and of itself. The software is and has already been in place for some time. There's nothing the government like better than to allow people to feel that they are really in charge of their own destiny when in fact, they are not.

Just thought I'd end your day on a happy note! ;D

Lol Art. The comparison between the NSA and my family was just a poor joke.

Of course, nobody in the world can escape NSA & Friends. But after deleting cookies, history and browser cache content, I guess my family can't discover the sites I'm not supposed to visit, lol. Or maybe with a recovering tool, if it was very important. By the way, it's not important at all. And I'm the only one at home using my PC.

Maybe a little touch of paranoia?  ;D

More dangerous than CIA, FBI, DEA...

And of course, NCIS and CSI

(Good luck Mav!)

You see: not spending my whole life with a computer. Wasting time with TV, too. ;D

Freddy,

Watch the movie, Enemy of the State w/Will Smith and Gene Hackman if you ever get the chance.

Much of what was shown in the movie was based on real capabilities of the No Such Agency and
that was years ago.

Their mission is to stay 10 years ahead of current technology! One can only imagine what neat toys
they have to play with. They occupy a huge amount of acreage near Fort Meade, MD. with a rather
large bulk of it underground and housing some of the most powerful / fastest computers in the world.

Now you know a little more than you did!

Also check out Dan Brown's book entitled Digital Fortress. Very good read and deals alot with the
inner workings of the NSA.

There you go!
In the world of AI, it's the thought that counts!

Thanks things are clearer now...I wasn't sure if it was a joke thing like 'ACME' in the roadrunner cartoons.  I have Digital Fortress but have not got around to reading it yet.
