A Motorola Project
« on: May 21, 2012, 04:36:13 pm »
An interesting source. For those who love perfection and realism. Here, a product worthy of a master of technology. Motorola launches the project. :)

Quality Graphics

"As graphics hardware in phones becomes more powerful, more realistic avatars will be possible on cellular handsets," says Mike Danielson, who's spearheading the avatar project at Motorola Labs. "On a phone with the right hardware we can expect avatar display quality that exceeds what normally appears in a 3-D game, because we will only be viewing one character at a time."

Good find, this interests me a lot at the moment.  I would be designing avatars if the current (free) TTS told you what phonemes were firing, so I could change the mouth shape when needed.

I think Bragi is working on something like this.

yes I am. But in stages. In the next android release, it will be about the AI, after that, I would like to introduce movement and in a final stage lipsync. I had to write (actually port) my own TTS for this (not yet fully finished).
At the moment, I'm also not yet using the GPU for this, but instead using images. It uses a little more memory, and the figures are more stiffer, but it's easier to get started with (both for me and avatar designers).  In a year (or more), I might consider including a matrix/vertex based engine for this.

here's an image of the current state:

Freddy, I love perfection. I remember your post, it there's a few years on the project, an avatar, with the reconstruction, frame by frame, the face, it was amazing, I remember, that all phases of the metamorphosis in the video was impressive, I think this project, continuous, to be experienced. Thank you Freddy. :)

Bragi is an exciting discovery. Phonetics, TTS, is always perfection, do not forget that the voice is synthesized. Found, intonation, expression, and this, in the movement of the lips, I can tell you congratulations. Haptek, gives a little example.
Experience, strange, with haptek included in hal5. I modified the script, expression, and I felt that my avatar haptek, had a hint of real life, because his expression was so appropriate, with the tone of his voice, c 'was almost a game for me, changed, and changed constantly. O0
