Here's an article that explores the idea and there are quite a few white papers stating that plants are indeed smart, as in real-time kind of intelligence...
Smart Plants (https://www.ambius.com/blog/are-plants-intelligent/#:~:text=Science%20is%20beginning%20to%20think%20so.,-Written%20by%20Zack&text=%E2%80%9CThe%20Intelligent%20Plant%2C%E2%80%9D%20is,that%20was%20previously%20unheard%20of.)

Here is yet another strange finding of plants and how they respond to voice and have a gender preference:

There some documentaries on the subject:
This is a bit dated 2008 but is interesting:

Here is an interview with an evolutionary ecologist: Monica Gagliano (https://www.forbes.com/sites/andreamorris/2018/05/09/a-mind-without-a-brain-the-science-of-plant-intelligence-takes-root/#5461d9c476dc)

I remember the Mythbusters episode in which they experimented with people talking to (or playing music for) pea plants in different greenhouses. They disappointed me at the end by saying, "Actually our sample size is too small for us to make any serious claims based on these results."
The sample size in the study that the "Talk to Your Plant" article references is even smaller: ten people with one plant per person, plus two plants for a control? I'm not sure why they thought they could conclude much from that. The results could have been random coincidence.
This study is really interesting and provides a practical reason why plants might react to sound (sensing insects via vibrations and increasing concentrations of chemical defenses): https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4102826/ But again, it seems that it only examined 22 plants.
In short, plant bioacoustics is a cool area of research, but maybe be cautious about drawing conclusions too quickly.
