The Oculus Rift (or something simular) will be MINE whenever they get it fully completed and out of the development phase.

I want to use in on my pc for games, movies, and just general use as a portable monitor.

Must have now!!! Muhahahaha  :D

Not exactly innovative technology (3D glasses, mini-screens and special lenses?). It is basically the same as watching it as a 3D movie. The only cool part in the future would be to have the ability to interact with the motion picture and view it from desired angles.

At the moment I find 3D virtual reality glasses much more fun - something like Hololens, but not quite the same.
Software and Hardware developer, and everything in between.

Its funny because I had the opposite opinion of AR. I can't really see myself wearing augmented reality glasses. I'm not even sure it would be safe to wear it everyday either. Just imagine playing an AR game while driving down a highway. Suddenly, a monster runs out in front of you and you swerve off the road. I know it seems far fetched but something stupid like that is bound to happen. If it can happen it will.

I also have some reservation for VR also. Have you seen the youtube videos of people playing the Oculus VR demos? They look awesome. But you know... someones gonna die playing one of those games. Someone is going to fall over and kill themselves, someone is going to have a heartattack. Just like with non-VR games, there is going to be a bunch of kids found dead because they forgot to eat and drink while playing their game. This has happened to children in Korea. They have 24 hour gaming places where kids can play for free.

I still want Oculus Rift though. I like being totally immersed in movies and video games. I just hope I don't get PDSD while playing a war game or something like that... I'm sure someone will though. I might wake up screaming one night. So far, I heard a youtuber telling his followers that he used to not get scared on planes, however, now he does because of experiences he felt while playing the Oculus Rift. Some of those games are pretty intense. If anyone hasn't seen the youtube demos I encourage you to do some youtube searching. There are quite a few of them now. Buyer Beware.

Agreed. One really needs to curb their enthusiasm with some common sense...if such a takeaway is even possible for the video maven!
