Change of WebSite Notice
« on: September 28, 2006, 03:30:40 am »
Due to the need for an upgrade, increased storage and extra
bandwidth, my Character Creations web site will be temporarily
out of service for a few days until my new site and web domain
are registered and set up. I am sorry for any inconvenience this
may cause for those wishing to access the character download area.

When the new site is up & running I will
post a new link to it here so that you may
access and bookmark it. There will also be
a corresponding change in the e mail address
for the site and those wishing to contact me
there.

Best of luck Thom, I know space for all these things can be a problem sometimes, hope you have a smooth move across.

Thanks for the vote of support Freddy.  :afro

But there's already problems with the move.
Before I could get all the files moved over, they
deactivated the old site and storage area, so I
lost more than half the stuff before I could transfer
it into the new space. Now it's going to take me a
little bit longer to get the new sites up & running.
I'll have to search through all my drives and storage
media for the back up files from when I was doing
the work that I started out with. Hopefully I can find
replacements for all the missing files.    :huh  :sad  :smiley

There will actually be more than one site. When I'm finished
setting up everything there will be 3 seperate sites with
multiple gallery pages for each. A general graphics site, a
site for character avatars & skins, and a research and testing
site for downloadable demos. All linked to a main site index.  :grin

If I can work out the details, there will also be in the research area,
an animated haptar of me telling visitors about the various aspects
of the site and the work I'm doing.

BTW..... You might want to disable the logo & link to my site on
your own links page until I get the main site area up & running, and
get you the new web link for my main index page.

OK people, I have run into a lot of problems trying to track down
replacement files for the ones that got lost in the switch over to
the new site domain. But I did manage to get a portion of the site
back on-line for you. Most of the content still needs to be replaced
and re-uploaded so be patient, I'll have everything back up as soon
as possible. If you have any comments or requests stick them in an
email and send them to me at admin@charctercreationsanddesignworks.us

In the mean time here is a link to the newly reconstructed
Character Creations & Design Works site. Pardon my dust.

Says 404 not found though. :( Yahoo is a bit of a problem I hear, for web hosting. In fact, you may find that they bounce a lot of your email to their sender. I have a friend who used Yahoo and had that happen.

If you want to try another service, let me know. I can give you info on the service I work for if you want. $10 a month is pretty decent for unlimited space and no bandwidth charges. :) I have like 4 domains now and one is very very active.

Hope your hosting works out for you. If not, PM me and I can give you some details.

BTW, just wondering, how much does Yahoo charge for hosting and how much space do they give you?

Thanks FD. I think I'll stick with it for now.
The domain comes with 5 optional email accts, you can name up 5 subdomains,
and you get 2GB of storage space & 100,000MB of file transfer bandwidth per month
at a price of $8.95 a month. You also get access to site building tools using Perl, MySQL,
the standard html app and a few others including the standard geocities pagebuilder.  :cool

The site was off-line for a time this evening while I was working on it, and they just
gave me the formal web url for the site so there should now be no problems. It's a
standard www addy.

The new banner I designed for use with my site link.

Hey Freddy,   Did admin get the email I sent with the new site banner and link addy?

BTW..... Do you have a new DG banner you would like me to use or
should I just keep the old one posted?  Also Freddy, email
me the one for your Chalice Graphics site and I'll put it up
            for you.

Thanks Thom, you can carry on using Mavs old one if you like - as for Chalice - hold back as we're going to integrate the two sites in a week or two - to give a big site with more content.

Thanks

Haven't had a chance to check my mails yet today - I'll try and get it done over the weekend.

Nice site! :)

Sounds like Yahoo gives you a full service. Where I work, we offer about the same only no bandwidth charges, and there's unlimited email, unlimited FTP accounts (no subdomains), and unlimted space for $10 a month. Then there's the discount programs. Of course anyone signing up using one of my domains I get a referal credit (which is nice as anyone who hosts there can earn this by referring people to sign up).

I noticed you used to be with GeoCities, so I would guess this is just an upgrade of your account?

Your site looks like it's coming along though. Best of luck on it! I like your new banner. :)

Actually FD, it's an upgrade to a geocities Pro plan. But there is a seperate
company that actually handles the issuance & registration of your Domain
and web hosting. I can set up to 5 sub domains with an email acct each for
others to use if want.

OK! Here's the skinny on my progress as to restoring
the content files for Ultra Hal and haptek fullbods.

I have managed to restore most of the character heads,
Interface Skins & Fullbody Skins. As a result, the following
sections of my site are now OPEN:   :afro   :grin

> Character Heads (51 htr's)

> Fullbody Skins (small assortment) Still looking for the rest.

> UltraHal Interface Skins (9 UltraHal Skins)

I have also reopened the sections for:

> Desktop Wallpaper (10 desktop backgrounds)

> Other Site Links

> Animations & Videos (3 Vids)

To access these sections, just follow the site link
provided below, click on ENTER HERE,
then click on the button next to the section you
want to go to. To download files just click on the
image of the file you want.  :cool

 Thanks again FD.

Now I have a little something I need help with, if anyone here would
care to do it and then post a reply here for me.

It concerns whether or not the index page for the testing area subdomain
is loading and displaying correctly. I created the index page for this
BetaTest Area using an active haptek head character. It doesn't have
much to say right now, but eventually it will give a description of items
within this area of my site and directions for accessing other pages in
the subdomain which will be added later on.

So I need several people to go to my site and click through to the
Test Area using the button located in the main Site Directory. I just
want to know if the character loads OK and whether or not the vocal
presentation works OK.        Thanks to anyone who does this for me.

Here's the link to the site entry point.
