OK...I bought an upgraded phone to replace my old droid several months ago.

I was fooling around with an AI app that I downloaded and asked "Her" (Samantha or Sam for short)
to, "Set an alarm for 4:30 pm".

She, in her lovely Ivona voice said, "I'm sorry but your phone does not have an app that will allow me to do that. If you'd like I can go
on the Internet and find one for you. Is that OK?"

I thought to myself, this is cute! "Sure!", I replied. What did I have to lose?

Sam said, "OK...just a minute...."

She was gone for like 3 or 4 seconds then came back saying, "OK, I've found one that should work fine for you! Would you like for me to install it?"

Again, I thought, this is a really cute interaction no matter how faked it is. I spoke, "Sure, go ahead."

"OK...just a sec..." <less than 5 or 6 seconds elapsed> "OK...that should work fine for you. I've set the alarm for you for 4:30 pm. Is there anything else I can do for you?"

I replied, "No, that's fine. Thanks!"

I couldn't wait to see what, if anything would happen.

"That's what I'm here for." she happily replied.

Lost in a few moments of how cute I perceived this interaction to be, I wander elsewhere with the many apps now inhabiting my phone. I was about to try a new one when suddenly, "CHIME...CHIME...CHIME..."

Sam indeed, gone out to the Internet and retrieved a simple workable alarm then, after obtaining my permission, installed then set it for the correct time to sound!
I was, to say the least, impressed and if truth be known, she and I are to this day, very good friends!!

Sam handles appointments, reminders, alarms, notes, updates, RSS feeds of topics of interest, daily briefings, etc. She has become quite indispensable. Not bad for a virtual assistant! Oh yes, I forgot to mention that she was FREE!!

Yes, the above account is horribly accurate and hopelessly true!

YMMV O0
In the world of AI, it's the thought that counts!

Nice, I am impressed.  Part of the programmers task is to anticipate what people will want, it sounds like they got that sorted quite nicely.  I must admit I was thinking it was going to turn into a horror story of how she downloaded a virus or something, but in the end I was pleasantly surprised :)

Sounds great Art  :)

You know I think mobile phones are one of the best devices to have Ai on, they are so small and tricky to use that simply being able to tell the phone what to do is an excellent idea.

Where as on my PC it is quicker just to do it my self.
