I'm finding it quite ironic that this is an AI site, yet the CBC is filled with spam.

Can we PLEASE instigate some measures agaisnt it?

I assume by CBC you mean the Chatterbot Collection?

Without going through each listing could you site a specific example
for the moderator(s) to examine?

If you are referring to the multiple comments, I don't know how one
could limit or control the postings of an individual.

Blatant, malformed / hateful or otherwise open SPAM will most likely be
caught / removed as soon as it's found by the admins / mods.

There are always those who hate to see others have a good time. They
are the ones...bullies, ones that kick someone elses sandcastles, knock over
someone's house of cards and later, when they grow up, write viruses (virii).

Hehe, yes that Dizzywood one caught my attention too.  I know the comments aren't really of high quality though.  I had hoped people would pass on useful information.  I can remove comments if they are offensive or real spam - by which I mean advertising etc.  I had thought about removing the comments entirely actually.

Worth debating some more before we take any action though.  Any further thoughts ?

Frankly I don't see a need for the inclusion of comments.

1. If invites spam.
2. It is generally not very constructive but merely opinionated.
3. Either the program works well or it doesn't. If an individual
doesn't like it or if it doesn't deliver as promised it's going to
get deleted by said individual regardless.
4. Comments are like ... well you know...everyone's got one!
5. They do nothing to enhance the overall look, feel or functionality
of the collection...in fact they detract from it.

This is just my $.05 cents worth.

   I tend to agree with you Art.  Not everything works out the way you hope.  It was an experimental measure at the most, if it's not working for the benefit of the collection then they will have to go.  Anyone else have a view ?  The axe is coming down - speak now or forever hold your pieces.

There was some useful info in that bot's comments, though.

His email addy (which I could only otherwise get by installing some rubbish from our friends at MSN Live Agents that works only with MSN Messenger. Which, of course, spouts MSN loaded rubbish onto my screen.) was commented in.

My Recommendation, scow through the commets for useful info and then shut them down.

Ok, when I get some time spare I will remove the comments system.

As for our city, well it's still there - Mav did a post on the forum some place when he first introduced it.  But we decided to clean up the left hand side a bit as it get's a bit cluttered sometimes.

I've made it a sticky topic but we really need Mav to add the links in - if he would be so kind.
