What a neat idea.
I have two friends who are forever asking computer advice.
Been going on for years.
I should send bills but afraid it's too late.   They wouldn't pay.  They friends and use to free advice.

AHA!! That's easy, Dusky!!

Simply start giving them some wrong advice and they'll soon STOP pestering you!!
(yeah...your status as the resident guru will most likely take a hit, but on the good
side...you'll be trouble free!)

Luck either way!! O0 ;)

I got this email and thought it worthy of being posted here. Good stuff! Thanks to (you know who you are)!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I would like to share an experience with all of you. It has to do with drinking and driving. As you know some of us have had brushes with the authorities over the years. The other night I was out for dinner with a few friends. After consuming too much beer and knowing full well that I was wasted, I did something I've never done before. Believe it or not I took a bus home. Yes a bus. I arrived home safely and without incident. This was really a surprise to me since I have never driven a bus before.

Yes Family Guy and Futurama...more adult centered humor with a bit of a twist along the way.

Close the bonnet, take the lift to the flat and ... WHAT? Who started this?

Funny thing, a while back, I heard rather uncouth guy say, "Those British people ought to learn
how to speak English!!"

Now THAT'S FUNNY!!  ;)

@ Art

Indeed, that was a funny comment made by an uncouth guy, but please…

Don’t get me started on what our American friends have done to the English language.

Hmm… should I post this, what the hell, anyway Freddy started it by posting that Family Guy vid  ;D

Data,

In all honesty I'm not sure English is even being TAUGHT in school any longer! Based on the
kids and their 'Texting' slingo (slang + lingo), dictionaries have altered and added words and
meanings every 6 months. Gay is not HAPPY, a Fag is not a CIGARETTE, Chillin is not being
COLD, a crib is not just a bed for a baby, a peep is not a very small, young chicken...and so on,
and so on.

While I had the pleasure of a formal English education along with learning how to diagram a
sentence, creative writing, grammar, etc., the misuse of words always makes me shake my
head in disgust. There, their and they're along with your and you're and so often misused
words like affect and effect have numbed me to the point where I no longer bother to correct
people when I encounter their errors. Thank the gods I'm NOT a proof reader!! I'd run out
of red pencils in a hurry.

No, I'm not saying that I'm perfect and always use proper grammar but the lazy
attitude of our youth and others indicate that they just don't give a good damn one way
or the other. Perhaps in this new tech-oriented world, it really doesn't matter anymore!

I wish you well, my friend!!

Art, I'm with you on that 100%! I noticed, however, that you "left something out", so to speak. Just like there, their and they're, there is actually your, you're and yore (from long ago, as in "days of yore"). :P

I don't mind the occasional "netspeek" (and shouldn't that be netSPEAK?), such as lol or BRB, but when you see stuff like "lolz git ur sh1t 2gether, m8!" I just want to reach through my computer and throttle the lazy little dweeb on the other side. (Sorry for the slippage into potty-mouth) :rar:

And since the subject has become rather dour now, I'm duty-bound, regardless of the day of the week, to offer something to lighten the mood:

Two lawyers, a doctor and a priest walk into a bar.

The drunk saw it first and ducked! :P :D

I always thought my English was so-so, but since coming on the internet I discovered that I am actually quite good at it  ;D

I have a late joke :

An Englishman, Irishman and a Scotsman go into a pub.

The landlord says 'Is this some kind of joke ?'

It's always nice to discover, our grammar. I can not express the voice here in French. But I have lived long in the north in France and often here in the south of France, people think I am from Quebec because I have a slang. This gives some trouble in the translation from French into English. :o

Funny for Friday. Here is a joke. As well as a comparison. Everyone know that the squirrel, which is locked in a cage, he turns around, and he always goes round in circles. But the observed! He turned and shot all the time. But around the cage nothing moves. Everything stands still. Is silence, nothing moves. The analysis of this observation is our Presidents are identical to the squirrel, they still turns and turns in circles! But nothing moves.
So in my opinion it is better to have a goldfish, because if you give him his freedom he can swim, and will never turn over in circles. ;D ::)
