Humans - New TV series to air soon
« on: June 26, 2015, 09:51:26 am »

This new series should shed some light on how society might interact, accept and work with androids / artificial humans in the future...or not.

In the world of AI, it's the thought that counts!

We're already waiting for episode 3 this Sunday here in the UK!
Make a nice change for the UK to get a TV show before the US  :D

This show reminds me of something called "The Uncanny Valley". Here's a youtube vid to show what I mean.

Oh, good point squarebear!  Seems the US is scared of doing anything new.
Almost everything being done in the entertainment business is a sequel.

I'm not sure whether they're afraid or simply lack the creative talent to come up with anything new.

It also seems that our friends in Canada really excel in the visual arts such as Computer Graphics, Character creation / modelling and Animation to name a few.

I am so sick of sequels and REMAKES!  The same holds true for music and songs. Come on people...Create!!

I saw the 9 episodes of the series, but the series swedish, no longer exists now.
The new generation of Hubot must dominated the real human on the episode 9. I saw ........ 1 to 9.

And here I thought Doctor Who was/is the greatest series ever to come from the UK to America...
I love the whole series and can't wait for the next one.

but.. saying that, I want to check out humans. I'm usually not so easily impressed. Most of the time I avoid TV. I mainly watch YouTube vids, or perhaps watch a movie while I code. Most shows are so generic, do the same things over and over again. I've been sick of it for about 15 years now.

In the American comics industry it was obvious why: When the economy hit hard, comics distributor Diamond Comics would just no longer take on any new series because they were not guaranteed of success. They chose to stick with distributing only series that were already a proven success. The creators are not creating less, but nobody is willing to take a risk publishing them. That's why it's raining spinoffs like Agents of Shield, Green Arrow and Gotham: They're slightly above average humdrum at best, but they are proven franchises with an already existing fanbase.

@Don:

That is very enlightening.  The ratio of originals to sequels reflects a snapshot of the U.S. economy.

I don't mind a good remake.

But it is true that it is not easy to see a good original. Mostly my idea of a good art doesn't overlap with those of guys that are after money (and those dictate what will be emitted through the air or on big cinema canvas). Mostly they pass us big spectacular explosions and a fine weapon arsenal exposure with squirting rivers of blood mixed with ejected brain shake on walls and floors. Might be good for a zombie movie, but I didn't I saw a zombie movie for a decade.

It is good to occasionally rest a brain, but sometimes I have a need to permanently store some fine art in my memory.

P.S. I just got a mail from Chuck Norris. He told me to write that his movies are the state of the art, so I've written it. Chuck rules :-)

@ Don,
SO then I was correct...these companies ARE afraid to let themselves actually be creative for fear of failure or not pulling in the big numbers at the box office (pretty much a synonym for failure). Pity that!

With comics, you all can still give some thanks to the likes of Marvel creator, Stan Lee, who has given the world much to dream and reminisce about.  Wonder what a mint condition (if possible) issue of the 1st Superman  would be worth?

In closing, I did stay up later than normal to view the 1st episode of Humans and I found it intriguing and enjoyable although I have a feeling I already know how it's going to play out. Then again, I could be way off base.
For the rest of you who might have already seen the series, please don't spoil it for the rest of us who have not.

Thank you!

A Superman #1 will go for 1.1 million.
If I have to be entirely honest, it's not always fear of not cashing in bigtime, but for some it's fear of going out of business altogether. I hate to blame "the economy", but I can't deny that the number of comic stores has significantly rolled over and died. The movie industry on the other hand suffers greatly at the hands of digital piracy on the rise, and that's a true story.
With Disney however, who now owns Marvel and Star Wars, it's a different story: They never had the creativity to come up with original stories, sequels is all they do, and creative talent prefers to work elsewhere if they can.

Seems this series has the right formula to be a hit.
