New cryopreservation method is much better
« on: November 18, 2021, 07:39:34 am »
What can be cryopreserved better?:

"New computer model is a key step toward low-temperature preservation of 3D tissues, organs"

"Medical science is a key step closer to the cryopreservation of brain slices used in neurological research, pancreatic cells for the treatment of diabetes and even whole organs thanks to a new computer model that predicts how tissue's size will change during the preservation process."

How better?:

"Healthy cell survival following vitrification rose from about 10% with a conventional approach to greater than 80%."

Ok. Thanks God. I don't want to die. I want patternz. Link:

P.S.: All you may have to do is store your brain's natural fluid in a jar to put back in after you'd thaw; don't throw nothing out. Also your computer, as it stores a lot about you.

I'm not sure if cells like neurons would work so well, not that the neuron can't be preserved but the dendrite states and synapse LTP might not be preserved. Those states require maintenance by the cell. So, you might be able to preserve a brain, but when you thaw it out it's a blank slate.   :(

going for immortality via technology is worse than extreme high elevation mountain biking,  barely no-one finishes alive for too much longer, and its disgusting watching them try.

Having a shorter context doesn't change you at all, it quickly "elongates the sentence" ex.:

He was

He was sitting on the bench and was watching his iphone...

BTW I had written something on this area already:

how to ... store you and activate you

So once AGI is made, you can freeze the program (not Cryonics, but logically :) ), and then turn it back on later. The person stopped aging logically, but they are the same person upon resuming consciousness. SO: To store "you" requires simply storing on HDD all your memories, you can dump the computer, all that you need is the memory device holding the neural network that stores the memories. You can upgrade its computer so it runs faster or has more RAM :) . If you clone your memory device, and run both in a different /or/ exactly identical simulation world, they will be the SAME PERSON both, 2 instances of you. You are now 2 people. You are still you because you say so. The AGI must say so to let others know he is ok and still exists. The belief that there can only be one of you is an illusion/ lie. You are still you even if lose some memories and don't known which or when are lost.

Turning on the you from the memory device: As for how you feel and sense and become awake, this requires sending an input in, it can even be unseen albeit similar to old memories, and then the processing/ predictions made is what is that "feeling" that literally "you" /are/. I consider me not the memories, but the usage of recognizing a memory. When I see something, this is me. That is me. I am the image. That is all I do is feel, and see the image. And hear etc. I am not my actions nor the algorithm that controls Prediction. Now why would I say this? I know all I am is a predicting machine! I store, process, and act. I say this because the sensory is extremely important to me. It controls actions. It controls predictions. To predict requires recognition first. That is a form of prediction I guess. Predicting the rest of a memory is recognition, too. You hear walki....and the rest of the memory fires walki>ng. So this node activation is really important to me. And the whole goal isn't even to do any algorithm, the goal is to see food and AGI.

Interesting perspective, it reminds me of the Netflix series altered carbon. You just need a stack, who cares about the sleeve, unless you can't afford one.  :-\

Too bad they canceled the series, I really liked that one. :'(
