PHP Programmers requirements in UK
« on: June 07, 2016, 05:12:06 pm »
Hi guys,

I'm Ben, I'm 23 years old and I'm working as a PHP Programmer for 2 years and a half.
I'd like to move from an EU country to UK but I didn't finished yet the university. I made just 2 years from 3.
Do you how many chances do I have to find a job on web development? Is bachelor degree one of the most important thing to find a job in UK or it's more relevant the knowledge and experience?

I'm not sure why you are asking here as this site is about AI.

But do you have a careers adviser or anything at your college or university ? They would be in a better position to help and may have leads you can follow up.

From my experience I found the web development marketplace is seriously over saturated. Freelance places pay very little and not enough to live on in the UK. Your best bet is with an established company and on someone's pay roll and a degree would help you to get on that ladder.

You have to realise making websites these days is easy for anyone, with things like Worpress, Drupal, Joomla and many more. If it were me I would be looking more at apps and things that add functionality over straight web design. Or perhaps themes for those mentioned frameworks which seem to sell well.

But I am not a careers adviser... that's just what I think.

Welcome,

Yes, above all else, continue / finish your education. It is the grease that enables the wheel to turn! OK...good analogy but seriously, you and your future will fare far better with it then without it! Don't fall for this web design thing. Kids in middle school blow the doors off what paid adults did a few years ago.

Computer Sci, automation, Artificial Intelligence programming, etc., seems to be where the arrow is pointing...at least on my humble compass.

Best of luck to you either way!
In the world of AI, it's the thought that counts!
