They weren't examples!!!  They were just regurgitation of the same useless crap.    I mean whats an actual APPLICATION, for it.

There is none,  because its bullshit.

That you can't do a simple search on Youtube or google is a joke!

What? Where did you go to school? Mandelbrot and Julia set fractals use imaginary numbers.

Amazing how the eagle knew how to increase his decent by bringing in his wings towards his torso. I am a glider pilot (sailplane) and when I need to lose a lot of altitude I do a slip. It's funny how most people might think that a sailplane is slow but it's not uncommon for a high-performance glider to do 150 to 200 mph or more! I'm to the point where I don't have to land because I can't find lift from thermals or waves, but when I want to land. I can see how some flying animals live a good portion of their entire lives in the air.

I need you to explain to me where the square root of -1 fits into fractals...    it doesn't.   and how the hell can you even type it into the computer?

I just did it in my c ide,  and it just outputs 0,  for sqrt(negative anything)  so that doesn't look very hopeful for it.    :2funny:

Might not have quantum support in the square root function tho…  you never know, maybe you need to include "string.h" for string theory...

You can not calculate sqrt(-1).

But if you have a complex number in a form `a + b * sqrt(-1)`, you can do wonders with a and b.

One of the wonders is drawing Mandelbrot if interpreting `a` and `b` as x and y coordinates. Other wonders include calculating physical variables as complex numbers. Then, in some physical formulas, `sqrt(-1)` can get reduced, yielding a real result like there never was `sqrt(-1)`. This reducing is applied to some electricity calculations, as I heard. I don't have a specific example, but it is taught at advanced electronic universities I didn't attend.

How could something that's illogical involve anything productive at all!?!??     a * a will NEVER equal -1.  actually never ANYTHING negative.  Its the most useless thing in mathematics ever invented.

Think about it this way: it appears in outer world, but it is impossible to calculate it in mathematics. Mathematics is just not expressive enough, but there is a way to encapsulate it within imaginary i variable.

Where to look for imaginary number in nature? One of the very tangible answers is: black holes. At some point from black hole distance, the `sqrt(-1)` shows up in Einstein's gravity formula. That is the point where laws of physics that we know cease. We don't know what's happening within black holes, but it does not diminishes their existence in this Universe. Likewise, math doesn't know how to interpret `sqrt(-1)`, but admits its existence.

Like black holes are a part of the Universe, `sqrt(-1)` is a part of mathematics. Black holes are encapsulated inside black spots we don't see at all at starry night. Likewise, `sqrt(-1)` is encapsulated within i number. But black holes interact (in very predictive way) with i.e. photons that fly around. Likewise, complex numbers interact with other numbers in very predictive way.

How could something that's illogical involve anything productive at all!?!??     a * a will NEVER equal -1.  actually never ANYTHING negative.  Its the most useless thing in mathematics ever invented.

I hate this part, but one of the things we know about i is that `sqrt(-1) * sqrt(-1) == -1`

I bet that was a lie it was in Einstein's mathematics.   Whos in charge of which and what lies we teach the children about famous people from older times?  Anyhow,  I give in,  I feel like im hurting things here more than helping,  I think im going to disappear for a while, like my avatar name suggests.

Don't take math so serious. It is merely a human invented language that deals with `sqrt(-1)` in its own way. Who knows, maybe some other, more general language may be invented to address this issue more natural and comprehensive.
