lrh9, newest friendly face.
« on: September 28, 2009, 06:52:00 am »
Just thought I'd say a few words on recently becoming the newest friendly face on the forums. First, I'd like to compliment the quality of the site. In the past two and a half months that I've been here, I've learned more on this site than I have from any other artificial intelligence forum on the Internet. All of you are intelligent, engaging, and thought provoking. I've enjoyed the informative and interesting articles written by the fine users of this site, and I am looking forward to more. This site also has the finest links to news sources regarding artificial intelligence and robotics.

I knew from the warm welcome I received the first time I posted on this site that I had found someplace special. Since then, my interactions with everyone have only reinforced this impression. Everyone continues to welcome me into the community and support my efforts, for which I am extremely grateful. Not only do I hope my project can help this community and the a.i. community in general, but I also continue to involve myself personally. I recently set my picture as my avatar and I also display my email address and Windows Live address. Please feel free to message or email me anytime for help or discussion. I'll gladly assist everyone to the best of my abilities in as prompt a manner as I am able to respond.

I'd like to personally thank:

  • Freddy, for providing constant personal and technical support.
  • Maviarab, Art, one, and Dante, for providing stimulating and thought provoking conversation.
  • Tyler for her exciting and informative news updates.
  • claude2 for his excellent graphics work.

I hope that my future experience here is as pleasant and productive as it has been and that my efforts in regards to a.i. and robotics result in something that everyone can be proud of. Thank you all.

Awwwwww thanks lrh...

I feel all warm and fuzzy inside now hehe :)

Your post is much appreciated, not many would take the time to post such a thing, and it really is appreciated. It mkaes all the hard work and effort worthwhile (more work for Freddy than me of late but you get where I'm going).

This place was set up to encompass exactly everything you mentioned. So its great that we acheived our goals with the site. It has changed remarkably from when we first set up, but all for the better I believe, and again your comments are worthwhile.

Hope you continue to enjoy your stay :)

Irh9,
To respond to something privately discussed, I see no harm in sharing it here because Wikipedia has two links I found and deals with a 'coin toss' which you might find useful in creating an A.I.

I studied non traditional mathematics while going to a tech school,it can be used in advanced circuitry design but that is not where I am going for a job or career. I dealt with it because it was required. I used it for use in complex numbers in polar form, and finding products, quotients,  powers, roots, ECT

I am not sure if I remember the spelling but I remember it being 'DeMoivre's Therom' . I learned that it has a default value of #1.

Here is a link but their is other pages if you search for it on Wiki.

Enjoy,
J. 8)

P.S.,
This pertains to the letter 'I' (Imaginary) in mathematics.

Wow, it's been a while since I laughed with joy, thanks for that, you made my day.  Like Maviarab said; it's nice to read your post after working so long on the site.  It's really the members that make this site and I am glad to say you are a very worthy member and I am glad to have you around.

A lot of the time people just read the posts and do not comment, so it's very satisfying when people do start to join in.  I'm also pleased you are brave enough to challenge our thoughts on this difficult subject - it's impossible for any one person to be right and we all need our cages rattled sometimes.

Many thanks  :)

Right on. Sort of in line with Freddy's comments, though I might not agree with some things you mention I strongly support your right to say them!

It is nice of you to voice your feelings about the site and membership and I personally enjoy seeing and interacting with new members as well.

The diversity of our individual beliefs, ideas, ideals and practices is what makes this site the very neat place that it is. Through diversity we can all learn and grow...as individuals and with our ideas. We can also learn to practice tolerance...something of which the world needs a lot more.

Thanks for your comment lrh9 and may we all continue to learn and grow.
 ;)
