Sci-Fi movie coming soon
« on: December 24, 2011, 12:01:15 pm »
It is called: PROMETHEUS and the trailer shows it to have a lot of similar
space misadventure happenings as did many of the past but this one does
portray a different plot line. Humans tracing their collective "Roots" but in
a very big way and apparently with a very big surprise in store for them.

Don't get in line just yet for the one doesn't release until 6-8-2012.

Check it here:

I feel like I am lagging behind.  ::)

I bought this on DVD for £3 in the supermarket months back and just got to watch it at the weekend just gone.

I found it quite enjoyable and reminiscent of Alien, though notably rated 15 here in the UK.

I thought it was more Sci-Fi than Sci-Fi/Horror. To me Alien had a horror element.

None of these things detract, I understand it is set in the same universe as Alien, so it's nice to see that being revisited. I think the date was 2089 or thereabouts.

Some good acting, though a few plot lines just didn't seem to add up for me.

I won't post any spoilers unless it's safe now to talk  ;D

I give it 8/10 - it's just not Alien, but it has it's moments.

Watched this film when it first came out and a couple of times since... I enjoyed it too. I believe they are currently filming the second installment due out in mid 2016.

I agree the original Alien film has much more atmosphere, though I think a lot of that is due to the nostalgia of remembering the first time I watched it many years ago.  I also feel that modern CGI somehow lessens the movie experience, films used to show just enough effects to be believable, and left the rest to a good story line and your imagination.  Now they can generate any scenario in photo realistic detail, the first watch is usually an experience... but not memorable.

I could be getting old of course... nah!  :o

Yes, I thought it looked set up for a sequel, great.

Alien did have more atmosphere to me too, also it was ground breaking I thought in believable effects. A friend, years back, told me they didn't let the actors know where the alien would appear and the reactions were more genuine.

Maybe we are getting used to amazing visuals. I really only watched the Transformer movies to see the effects...oh and Megan Fox.  ;D

One of the best game experiences I had was from old Commodore 64 and the time of 286 computers with Prince of Persia on sim-cga emulator.

I guess young people have more potential to impress them. Or a bit of nostalgic feeling makes memories more vivid.

We can ask today's children in 20 years...
