Don't forget the battery
« on: August 20, 2013, 02:35:55 pm »
Hello everyone!

I'm away from forums (and from Second Life) since the end of April. When I was the victim of a cerebral vascular accident. Then one and a half month at the hospital. Rehabilitation (many things to relearn)...

Maybe the fault of SL? Wondering... Maybe too many intense sessions for my poor little brain? I don't know.

When I came back home, I obviously turned my old PC (Pentium 4, XP) on. Bad surprise! Everything was going crazy in my computer. I though it was me (I must say I was in a fog when I came back to real life).

No, I finally realized it was the fault of the battery! The battery for the BIOS. Never changed it. From 2002 (the computer was made in 2002). I checked it: 0.5 V (instead 3 volts). Now the PC works like a charm again. Another "interesting" experience...

Now I spend my life on Google and YouTube (most of the time with my netbook). To be continued (I hope so)...

Hi GT40, I wondered where you were.  Sorry to hear of this nasty business  :(

But I am happy you are back in Real Life  :)

That must have been a bit of a shock GT, I too did wonder where you had got to, glad you are feeling some better now, just as glad that the old PC is still running, they don't make them like they used to   :)

All the best to you and welcome back.

Many thanks everyone for your kind words. Thanks to my wife (she's more ill than me and I worry about her) and to my son too.

I know I'm lucky (lots of people are disabled after such a strange adventure) and I enjoy this "real" Second Life. :)
