MIRAlab - name rang a bell but I've never seen the site before, nice find.
I see what you mean about the research projects, theres a lot in there that we all have interest in.  Looks like you found graphics research central, nice one  :D

The write-up for that book reminded me that the new Blender release has improved or new fluids modelling.  There's a nice demo in the YouTube section with one part that shows water being poured into a glass.

Thanks  8)

I love those water ones, they are so realistic.

I remember when they were making the animated film Ice Age (I think it was that one) that the fur on the animals was by far the hardest part to do.

Yeah, I remember the first time I saw the skin on Shrek, it freaked me out.  I'm still looking for that Poser realistic artwork @ deviantART I found from msdewey, some of those guys are awesome artists.

I added the liquid and hair videos to the new YouTube pages here  :)

I just took a look at the vids in YouTube, I found the liquid to be the best,  the hair I thought was to geometric didn't look real to me.  There's another link in this website somewhere dealing with some work  someone had done with PeoplePutty that I thought was exceptional.

Not sure which link you mean Carl, but I agree the fluids are exceptional.  I thought the hair was pretty good, but still not as lifelike in action as the fluids.  Strange because in my mind I thought the liquids would be the most difficult.

It might just be because more people over a longer time have been modelling fluids.  The modelling of human hair seems to be a more recent development from my memories.
