Media Center Control
« on: December 31, 2010, 03:42:30 pm »
I posted this over on Datahopa.co.uk but thought some of you guys here might be interested too.

As luck would have it my media center control has died, so I went looking for a new one and found this little gem, it’s a normal media centre control plus a keyboard and mouse (of a fashion), and it fits in the palm of your hand.

I’m gona get one, will let you know how it goes.

@ DH,

Now that's funny! Great stuff! Did you do it in PhotoShop or similar or did you find it on the net somewhere?

I show you my real controller that came with my computer. I hardly ever use it actually since I'm so close to the screen anyway.

It does look like a cute bit of kit doesn’t it Dusky.

I had a standard type one ever since windows XP media centre days, but its finally given up on me, it got used every day for TV mainly, similar looking to your one Art.

I like the way this new one has a mini keyboard, might come in handy, if nothing else it should work media centre, I got the picture from the advert for it, yes it is real  :)

No I haven’t got it yet, I was going to get it from the local Maplin store but they have sold out, now im wondering if I should hold on for them to re –stock or just buy it on-line, will have to decide soon, it’s a pain using media centre with a mouse, way way too slow at scrolling through all the channels and no button for live TV, I really miss that too, if you're not familiar with it just press one button it opens media centre and puts the TV on, which cant be done with a standard keyboard and mouse.

Perhaps but you can sure use that numeric pad on your keyboard to change channels like a pro!

Its true, you can use the numeric pad to enter channel numbers, but the keyboard cant open the TV guide to browse what’s on that has to be done with a mouse.

I’m sitting on my sofa with a keyboard on my lap and a mouse close by for the guide, it’s too much, for me.

Art just send me your remote, it will go to a good home, I promise  :D

Oops! On closer inspection of this little control I see that it doesn’t have a Live TV button, or not one that I can see on it, maybe you know better if you have one?

I think it’s a neat little gadget though but I’m now thinking its not for me.

Back to the drawing board, sorry.

MediaCenter, is multi functional, I use it, for projection, my creations, also for TV, it is necessary to use absolutely, a quick connection, for the reading of fluxes, to see the capacity of memory also. It has films it buy, or récèption, all chains deprived, and commits. Here is my MediaCenter, of HP Vista. :)

Interesting. I'm sort of an odd ball I guess. Gave up on TV watching years ago. Found that most of the programs were a waste of time and wished I had both the time back I spent watching them as well as the money for the PPV service. After analysis I finally figured out that there were maybe 2 programs a month I was really interested in and that the biggest use was for background noise. So haven't owned a TV in years.

The other thing that came to me as a shock one day was just how bad I hate the commercial and ad. After not seeing nor hearing of them for a long time, when I encounter one now, it just crawls all over the wrong side of me.

So like Art, I set close to the computers. Close enough that a remote would just be something else in the way.

Still it is interesting to see what folks do with things to fit their lifestyles. What doesn't work for me, doesn't mean I'm totally against it, it just means it doesn't fit my lifestyle as it would someone elses.
