Elizabeth Taylor Homage
« on: March 23, 2011, 04:03:53 pm »
From the french press, just now.
" The fabled actress, the enterpriser, the audacious activist Elizabeth Taylor died quietly in the hospital Cedars-Sinaï of Los angeles today ", specifies the press release.
" It was encircled with her children, Michael Wilding, Christopher Wilding, Liza Todd and Maria Burton ", adds the press release, adding that she also leaves 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Liz Taylor had been accepted in the hospital six weeks ago for a cardiac insufficiency, a problem of health to which she had been confronted again and again these last years, he specified.
His son Michael Wilding declared in the press release: " My mother was an extraordinary woman, who lived her life entirely, with passion, humour and love ".
" In spite of despair that provokes at home his disappearing, her which was so close and so dear to us, we shall always be inspired by his permanent contribution " in the better world, he added.

It is my childhood which leaves with her, to remember of Peplum, and big film, with a star.

RIP Liz. Be sure that many a young man at the time of your heyday reads this with sadness at your passing.

To be sure, Liz was not anything if she was not human. As with us all, she had her ups and downs. Only her's were more public than yours or mine.

I guess if one has a mild wish, it would be to out live the one who would write your obituary. For the New York Times she has succeeded. As with most major papers, those of us famous enough to be a world interest item at our passing, the obits are written long before the event and small bits added to it as time goes along. Liz's obit writer passed away 6 years ago with cancer.

On a personal note, I see her passing as a sign. A sign that I'm not 21 anymore. It's sad to see your heroes and heroines pass before you do. It tells you where you are in the world, in relation to the younger generation coming up behind you.

I hope her family has closure with this event and it leaves them with the fond memories of what was that was good.

Sad.  Who's afraid of Virginia Woolf will always be one of my favourite films.

Dear photostill, yes, that's true. The time passes very quickly. More quickly now, we have a very worrying life, and too progressive, I do not know if it is dangerous, but, every thing, which to leave, it is memory, that the time, advances, and very quickly advance. Friendship. Claude ;)

Even though the movie was in 1944 and Elizabeth was just 12, I saw it when I probably 9 and thought she was the prettiest girl I'd ever seen (and she was). Oh yeah, the movie was National Velvet! She doesn't believe the jocky has enough faith in the horse to win so she dresses as a boy and rides the horse to victory!! Great movie!

Later made in to a TV series (for 2 years) but with a gal named Lori Martin instead. Pretty but not quite a Liz.

She was quite the talk of the town during her era and quite the actress!!!

Great memories...Thanks Liz!!! R.I.P.

It's been years since I watched Cleopatra.

When someone like this dies they used to show some of their films, but I've not noticed anything yet, but then I am not the avid TV watcher I used to be.
