Actually, hydrogen (H2) can be extracted from water (H2O) by electrolysis. So all you have to have is a good battery to ignite the reaction. I believe it can be done (this or that way), but deciders still decide on oil. Money still makes the world go around, not intelligence or kindness. We are living in the result of the world where rich man rule and I'm not happy with it.

Big Oil and its contributors (among other henchmen) have for decades quietly bought and shelved ideas that would have threatened their very existence. Most of these ideas were way more efficient internal combustion engines and those engines that would run on substances other than petroleum based products, among these, water.

Oil is the grease that allows the hub of economy to turn. ;)
