Synthetic Cutie!?
« on: June 27, 2011, 10:46:18 am »
A candy company has created a very cute actor in order to help sell the company's product.

Her personna was taken from several other girls' features and the result was so lifelike, the
company had to show how the composite was made.

She's still a "real" cutie in anyone's book!!

In the world of AI, it's the thought that counts!

It's great but I can't help thinking any one of those girls was cute enough to begin with  ;)

Yes but when you have a synthetic girl selling products and acting, you DON'T have to
PAY her!! Think how much could be made by those movie moguls if they didn't have
to put up with bitchy, demanding, spoiled actors and actresses or pay them either!

They could do exactly as the director wishes, all in perhaps one take but no matter...
I'll just reprogram that sequence and we'll shoot it over with maybe some different
effects, lighting, etc.

Kind of like Robots, the avatar personnas are yours to command. Way cool!
Regarding your other statement...YES, they were ALL quite cute...for real girls! ;)

very much agreed.
Also, if they can make it from 1 person, why do they need the composite? An image of a single person is as easy to manage as a composite, right?
That said, it's pretty cool though.

just thought of something, were they perhaps trying to make a composite of all the sub ethnic asian groups, so they can use the ad in all Asian regions?

Quite possibly, good notion.

I thought they were going for the 'perfect' face...where you take the most attractive aspects of several faces and come up with an optimum face. All very subjective of course.

You know, this sort of reminds me of the movie Looker, in certain ways. Not so much because of the plot line, but more for the special effects in the movie.

You know, this sort of reminds me of the movie Looker, in certain ways. Not so much because of the plot line, but more for the special effects in the movie.

A movie perhaps better and certainly along those lines was 'Simone' with Al Pacino and Rachel Roberts - Simone: Really great movie, funny plot and good entertainment.

Yes, I remember 'Looker' many years ago and thought it was entirely possible, even back then.

Eventually, the majority of 'Commercial actors / actresses' will likely be digital / synythetic in one form or another (2D, 3D, Holographic, etc.).

One last thought on this was the movie: 'The 6th Day' with Arnold Schwarzenegger. His flying partner was single and had a holographic girlfriend as a roommate who could
perform...uhh...various kinds of services for him. ;)

Really cool movie, full of action and some great SyFy ideas!

Maybe some of this thread should be in movies / film and literature but I think they've already been covered there. What the hey...it's all good!!
