What a Matrix like society might really look like
« on: January 29, 2021, 05:41:20 am »
This image just gave me something kinda eerie to think about. What if we preferred to live in virtual reality what might we look like? I mean we would just need some vitamins, sugars, fats, and proteins to maintain our brains, who needs a body... ::)

Recently I watched a documentary series on NetFlix titled "Alien Worlds" which considered what life might be like on different kinds of exoplanets. The fourth episode described a world like the one that you are thinking about where the civilization had become so advanced that the citizens no longer required physical bodies, they were just billions of brains in bottles. Of the four episodes, it was the most alien and disturbing by far.

There was also a movie called "The City of Lost Children" that had a character like that. None of these creatures were disconnected from actual reality, but I think if you were in that state, all reality would be indistinguishable from virtual reality.

People live like that already... Many people in 2nd/3rd world countries have nothing except for a cheap PC and living online.

Living online is big in Japan as well.

You need more than a few vitamins, sugars, and fats though. You should still exercise.. have full movement. I think VR escape rooms and VR minecraft/survival games are the future...
