The Bullshit Machine!
« on: May 24, 2022, 05:56:23 pm »

The crowning feature most would say of modern humans is language. It allows the animal to communicate critical information so it can organize itself or teach others skills and experiences. But there is another quality of humanity that is beyond just language and that is their imagination. But what is the imagination?

Animals use calls to warn of dangers, caches of food, call mates, and call for offspring. Some animals. such as avians, use calls in such a way as to draw attention to themselves by creatively sequencing vocalizations. Humanity has a demand for ideas, we thrive on ideas, but not for tool making. Tool making is an overrated talent of humanity. We thrive on ideas to think up creative notions of our environment. You'll note that tribal people always apply a motive to all things, even inanimate things. Why, because humanity is a highly social animal, our very existence depends on socialization, so it stands to reason that we evolved a wiring in our brains that is excessively computing solutions relative to some social context!

It was discovered from split-brain disorders that the right hemisphere of the brain confabulates, it literally just makes stuff up! In an environment that demands or rewards unique or strange ideas confabulation would prove to flourish. The more unique or unexpected the idea the more attention one can get. So it appears we are somewhat similar to birds in vocalizing sequences to gain attention, only humans do it on a scale that warps reality! All the myths and religions of humanity derive from this...well, what do you want to call it? A bullshit machine!

The criteria for the ideas of tribal communities is that it must make sense from a perspective of motive. So a mythical rock must have a reasonable motive to do whatever the imaginative individual claimed it did. Eventually, people become sophisticated enough to agree on ideas that they then claim as truths that belong to that community alone. It's that cultural glue that binds them and unites them!

Tens of thousands of years later European nations applied a different constraint to the bullshit machine. Rather than simply accept ideas based on a reasonable expectation of motives, they mandated that ideas be described mathematically and could be duplicated physically. It was a perfect storm of conditions that probably would never happen again if humanity should be sent back to the dark ages. That shift in how to apply the imagination made a transforming change in the world, for better or worse.

It is comical that an animal that was simply generating nonsense based on real experiences ended up naturally selecting or re-enforcing the bullshit machine that ultimately by accident gave it the ability to fathom a universe...

Would you say to a young child, "Dear, 50% of your brain is shit and should be hated, or even mocked for fun"?

People pack-hating one another is the reason we all live in seperate houses.

The word Motive is also entangled with Fate, and not automatically encoded in language. Direction + a Fatalistic goal = Motivation.

The colours in the picture aren't "random bullshit", it's a mixture of directions, opinions, etc.

Well...confabulation has been proven to be a function of the right side of the brain, but it's not its only function. That I ridicule it out of irony is called humor but I forgot we now live in an overly sensitive world...

People pack-hating one another is the reason we all live in seperate houses.

Families living in separate living spaces isn't new and is a part of many cultures' demand for privacy.

The word Motive is also entangled with Fate, and not automatically encoded in language. Direction + a Fatalistic goal = Motivation.

The emphasis of the term "Motive" was to convey that human thinking has its seeds in empathy. Where other species rely almost entirely on the assumption that others of its peer group can empathize and therefore relate to one another inclusive of organizing themselves to outflank prey in a coordinated effort, humans naturally selected to not only exploit empathy but developed a form of consciousness that allowed for the animal to communicate its experience of thinking through a sophisticated symbolic language.  Why we see patterns in the forces of nature is because we anthropomorphize what motives nature has, like wind, sun, and rain gods. I mean how often have you heard the saying: "Everything happens for a reason"?..

The colours in the picture aren't "random bullshit", it's a mixture of directions, opinions, etc.

Again, the notions of the beliefs of humanity aren't the true causes of why things happen, not until the scientific method was introduced did the narrative of proof for cause change to falsification over a reasonable motive did it revolutionize how we think. So, how many times have you experienced ideas or notions that "pop into your head" only for you to reject the notions because they didn't fit some reasonable understanding of yours? That is why cultures can resolve to form and symmetry as it validates their sense of what is a reasonable motive. In addition the bullshit machine allows for creativity that doesn't box itself in. It allows for uninhibited variance.

Welcome to humanity 101...

Generation of false memory is absolutely not a natural function of the right brain. Ridiculing someone with added irony, then ONLY calling it irony while hypnotising/blaming anyone who doesn't like it is narcissistic behaviour.

Groups of people living together and privacy is one thing. Everyone living in separate houses to prevent gang war/pitch fork mobs is another. With the spread of hateful news, men inevitably get together to act as protectors, talking about it, then doing something about it. Today, people talk about it, then rule each other to do nothing.

While calculated things do. Improvisations don't. "Directions" do not have a fate yet nor any group-patronising/"empathy". Think about improvisation. Dancing, acting, decorating. People wanting to be electric/smooth/simplifiers/dedicated/light touch/burning philosopher... People don't do this thinking about all the false things they're creating because people don't naturally hate & sabotage themselves. Some may carry vengence, retaliation, twisted logic etc... and people tend to stop/cut these out straight away as it's counter survival. Continuing it and justifying it makes you more twisted, angry, etc and people don't want to be near you.

False memory? Creativity is hardly a false memory. And I don't know how anyone could be hypnotized by reading a post on a forum.

What, I do not understand what you're talking about?

Things like improvisations are based on empathy, dancing by tribal people involves mimicking animals, and/or gods, as well as heroes of their society, all of which require empathy. The whole point of my post was humanity is a social animal and its adaptive approach is from an empathic perspective, which is learned, as many animals do, so looking for motive is how humanity is wired. While our evolution naturally selected for this kind of thinking it literally works with falsification by replacing motive, the two are very similar since they involve the notion of cause.

Humanity is an organism and as such is working against entropy. It has its cruelty as all other animals and that aspect of it is usually ignored or denied by modern western civilization as some glorification or romanticization, or even vanity of humanity.  Emotions like hate are naturally intrinsic in humans, you didn't learn to feel hate but you did learn what to hate. The bigger picture of humanity is it is a form of life and has legacy attributes from the evolution of animals that applied solutions that employ cruelty. Effectively our biology will remove competition which is part of the natural selection process.

Haha, this thread.

Yes human brains are geared for predicting/ making/ etc human-like images. And food. This is the primitive cortex part of the brain, the neocortex is the new part that allowed us to have imagination. It figures the neocortex has some weight over what gets predicted!

The brain has to make the body and colony survive by repairing its current body and cloning more bodies and Filling Their Brains with bull... but now it also has to rebuild/ clone idea hierarchies too! It's as important as survival.....the brain lures into ideas..... and it's quite easy to be a goof and make up ideas that Can't Be Sold. Most can't. The people that do make up working ideas are real pioneers and they get paid, because they put food on the table and make people survive overall.

The brain clones and repairs idea hierarchies. It revises old parts and builds up higher and wider. It has to say the same things many times at many levels and areas with mutations. It has to put the ideas in other brains too and mix them together like DNA from mom and dad.

So don't be afraid to go and use DALL-E 2. Go make some shit. https://openai.com/dall-e-2/
