Earn to play games are becoming very popular. The notion to earn a living through virtual reality is not new Second life was pretty popular in its day but has since faded. The game-changer today are cryptocurrencies and Non-Fundgable Tokens. Game characters and their enhancements inclusive of weapons can be unique and depending on the popularity of the game which affects the demand for these characters and enhancements can transform into real money.  Some are claiming you can earn a living, maybe? But the amount of money trading on these games is in the billions, there was a recent hack where over 600 million dollars was stolen!

But this begs the question: are we truly reaching a new kind of economy? An economy completely based on virtual realities. The scarcity of products and services is there but its based on investment risks. I can see where the sophistication of the game becomes more realistic and human creativity can add even greater value to products used in virtual reality. One such game does exploit human creativity by using Mine Craft worlds that can be bought, rented, and sold. In fact, such a scenario would discourage the old economies of high production, cookie-cutter products, and emphasize unique one of kind products. Of course, things like tools to build stuff in a virtual reality could find success, so not everything from the old economies would disappear.

 then have ai controlled characters fight against ai controlled characters and also have bosses.
the ai controlled characters would be fighting
on behalf your team.

they have some pretty good ones for that.
