Just wondering if anyone on here has explored Last.FM and Twitter?

The reason I ask is that it's like a free, legal, online personal radio. It has a large collection of music (VERY large) and uses a neural network to select the next track depending on user preferances (You press a smily face if you like the current music, or the sad if you dont) so every user has more or less an individual radio based on your like and dislikes. This in turn can be turned into another radio.

Twitter has a large collection of bots to remind you. I think I mentioned it elsewhere, but you can also watch the massive AI OpenCYC reach conclusions.

Never tried or looked at either. Never listen to online radio, prefer to listen to what I want, when I want etc.

No never tried that one, but Yahoo radio is just the same, you get yourself a custom radio station in the end based on your likes and dislikes.

I don't mind the radio, but usually prefer to play songs as and when I like same as Mav, but I do listen to it sometimes if I am working or something.

Feeling somewhat down-in-the-dumps, whilst a friend starts doing his childish-humor thing by calling me a 'fag' and 'gayboy' Last.FM starting playing 'In the navy!'

AI by 2029? I think it's already here, and it's laughing at me.

Excuse me if I'm wrong but doesn't or didn't the word 'Fag' refer to a cigarette? Has that changed?
What's the world coming to?! Language evolution or devolution (hey, I coined a word!)...anyone have 'change'? Ugh!!!.....

Hehe yes it does Aret, but over this side of the 'pond' the word is a derogatary remark also.

As far as I can remember it's always been a derogatory remark here as well. We knew the Brits
called a cig a fag but the word never had that context.

We also knew of your use of various words like bird, but it was always a two legged tree living,
flying animal instead of a pretty girl.

Also have to remember that a lot of our 'odd words for things' come from Cockney Rhyming Slang too

As I have to deal with cross-cultures, I've noticed a lot of bleed-over from America here.

Even technology has it's cultural referances here. Think the iPhone and Google Android are new tech? Ha! Look at Japan, the phone is effectivly old there; they're all used to MSS messaging and watching TV for free.

Last time I checked, Push-To-Talk (IE, phone made into a walkie-talkie) was the popular bit in America...

Aweful lot of langauge bleed over, though words like 'schmuk' and whatnot have not passed on.

The word, "Schmuk" is more of an ethno-cultural slang usually found in Jewish communities within a large city or metro area while the same word might very well have no meaning at all say in the midwest or northwestern US. Same most likely applies to other cultures, Irish, Hungarian, Greek, German, Italian, etc.

I think it's the fact that some words get enough use and make it to an accepted form of popular use.
