WGA - Windows Genuine Advantage REMOVAL TOOL!
« on: August 01, 2006, 10:19:19 pm »
If you, like many others were "duped" into downloading / installing the WGA
from MS as an "Update", you might want to check out this site:
http://www.firewallleaktester.com/removewga.htm

IMHO, WGA is nothing more than glorified spyware and certainly does not
qualify as an update. The "Advantage" part of it is certainly NOT for you
but rather for their advantage. :knuppel2

Not only does the program check your system to verify that all your MS
programs are legitimate, it reports back to MS regarding your machine's
status EVERY DAY!! :police

So if you like it by all means keep it! Otherwise, click the link above.

Good day! :afro

Is that seperate to the MS messenger 'service' ?  I disable that, my windows is legit but I can't be doing with my pc having open access - especially when within a few contract signings you don't know what company could gain use of it either.

It's like the phone market in the UK, I had all my details shipped over to another country's company "who may not have such stringent security policies".

If that wan't enough to set their alarm bells ringing then it certainly rang mine.

Trouble is they just go ahead and do it, then tell you they made a decision they can't be sure about - they basically admit they are incompetant in black and white which amused me.  I still complained, but who knows what good it does.

Rant over..
