What do you guys think about these new video games?
« on: July 24, 2017, 05:40:16 am »
What do you guys think about these new video games these days? I'm really interested in Art's, korrelan's, etc's view.

I don't really mean the shooter video games, I mean the ones that are like, fun, or somethin..

For example take a look at this new Yoshi video game:

Do you guys like this video game?....

I like the older video games from like 1980-2008. I have never found 1 after that. They all have the same feel. There is no increase in difficulty, are for children, no authenticness, too short, etc. I have a list about this, and a game-list of the best (that I like at least), but, I just wanted to quickly ask you guys, because it's interesting. Of course it's about born-with Rewards, however, Artificial Rewards u make, and *we all have somewhat similar ones with games I'd think, maybe.

I really really like games and food etc, I enjoy all fields. However I currently am not, because I have a mission to fulfill.

I game on PC, so I can't really comment on Nintendo's newest offerings. However, here are some recent releases that I've particularly enjoyed:

Dragon Age: Origins (BioWare/EA, 2009)
Dragon Age II (BioWare/EA, 2011)
Bastion (Supergiant Games, 2011)
Primordia (Wormwood Studios/Wadjet Eye, 2012) <- Members of this forum may find this one to be of particular interest
Transistor (Supergiant Games, 2014)
Sunless Sea (Failbetter Games, 2015)

Each has its unique charms, and you'll find very different gameplay, art styles, and story themes across the range.

I liked the graphics in that game, the way it's lit naturally. I don't know if I would like the game myself, those collect coins games sort of passed me by.

I mainly play RPG/MMO games and have been playing Lord of the Rings for over ten years now - it's about all I play a lot these days.

Before that it was RPG games like Neverwinter Nights, Guild Wars and the earlier GTA games on the PS2. And a lot of early PC stuff. Also and especially the Tomb Raider games.

Lol I didn't really notice it was about collecting coins. Maybe because I'm in a rush. I had thought it was about trying to go through the levels, fighting enemies, collecting coins, etc. But coins may be the bigger part of it. I like the graphics too.

It's all marketing now though. "Discover the flip side". Older games on the consoles have none of that.

At least, if I live forever, I can make the games I lush for myself. I can make 8 billion Pikmin games. Just the way I want it to be, then keep erasing my memories and playing like I do eating the same thing if get to the end. Each title getting harder, and harder.

Geared for the younger set, the game looks like it has some really nice 3D graphics and is sort of themed like the old Super Mario on steroids. Mission based, collecting games are not really my thing.

I have an affinity for 1st person shooters and the occasional adventure game but that's about it for me.

A friend of mine plays Screeps, and I thought about getting into it ... but I decided I have too many "real" programming projects (and too many other games) to do it for recreation too.  By the time I've spent 8 hours on my day job AND worked on Acuitas, I think my mana is starting to run low, if you know what I mean.

I saw a video of Screeps recently, it looks cool. Yes, I understand what you mean.

Korrelan's game is about us, the sprites are us.

The Source is very strong. May the Source be with you.
