Without France, the World Cup is not funny.  :( ;D >:(

@Datahopa: Remember...Vinyl is final (vinyl siding / trim = no more wasted time and $$ painting. ;)

@GT40: I figured they got mad, took their ball and went home. :D

Ohhh....tooo much stuff to be finished :(

Doing numerous jobs around the house for mum, have a sort of short term temporary job, still working on site and DG story rewrite...

I do pop in every day here, just not much happening to make me want to post, but hope everyone is doing well :)

@Art, Im not sure we have vinyl siding over here, across the pond, but I do know the paint cost £80, I think that’s about $120 and it has a 15 year guarantee, its going to have to do.

I feel sorry for France, going out of the World Cup, I know they are a better team than that.

England and USA final maybe.  :o

Nice images. :)

I've been experiencing some "technical difficulties" with the fish pond in my front yard, so my recent days have been rather more busy than I would like, and I've had to give myself permission to take a break from Morti for a short while. but I've still been able to have a bit of creative fun. During one of my usual rounds of "freewheeling" through the web (that's where I just google something random, and follow links that sound interesting) I began reading about slot machines, and for some reason it sounded somewhat fun to "build" one. The "early result" can be found can be found here. It's a really simple model right now, but I plan on expanding it. Since there are only 4 positions on each reel, the payout percentage is too high for a casino's liking (it's payback ratio is 934%, instead of the usual range of 93.4%),  but longer "reel strips" with more "slots" will change that. ;)

Yup. I took a look at a wide variety of slot machine images, and created a generic composite to use for the body. Then I "drew" the fruit and bars, and arranged them into 3 different "reel strips". I tried to make it function the same way that the old style mechanical versions did, in that the reels "spin" for a random period of time, and the slot they stop on determines the payout, instead of creating a random number, and then having the program "stop" the reel at the correct place. The only real limitation to making larger reel strips, which makes the machine more accurate as far as payout percentages is concerned, is the size of the strip images. The next step of having 10 "slots" per reel strip won't be so bad, but getting them up to 25 or more (some machines have up to 50 and more slots per reel) makes for some rather large images. I'll have to see how 10 slots per reel will work before I decide to go further with it. I'll probably also design options to play "different" machines, each with their own top glass and reel designs, and possibly different payouts, as well. But that's for the future.

Actually, it's more CSS than JS. Scripting CSS seems to be a lot faster than the old "image source swap" methods used in the past. And yes, I changed the payout a bit. I'm also working on the next level, where each reel has 10 positions instead of just 4, and I'm adding bells and sevens, with a much higher jackpot. I may also put in a "progressive" jackpot, that uses AJAX to update a common prize pool. That part is still "in the works". :) There will also likely be a set of options that will change the "skin" of the machine, along with the reels and payouts. This is very much an evolving process.
