Having distractibility issues is usually a pain in where one sits. Sometimes, however, it can be sort of fun. :)

You can "blame" Duskrider, I guess. His pics of Sandee have sparked my creativity. Besides, I thought that Sandee could use some companions. :)

Yeah, that one was fun to make. I really need to work on learning how to add bones to objects in Carrara. I have several models of Morti, but they're simple OBJ files, with no bones, so I can't pose him. I know it's possible to add them, I just haven't learned how. Once I do that, then I have to learn to make his clothes morphable, so that he looks more natural when he moves. Lots of stuff to learn, but that's the fun part.

This sux. :(

At 11:00AM, I was cruising all of my forum links when Windows Protection reported that my AV software was turned off. Having been through this once before, I immediately rebooted into safe mode, and began a virus scan from an uncorrupted CD. It's now 11:40PM, and that scan is still running. I guess the one disadvantage of having over a half-terrabyte of data on one's hard drives is that it takes weeks to scan all of the contents. So far only one trojan was "found", but it's a well documented "false positive". Maybe by morning I'll be back on my box, instead of the family's box, but maybe not. Till then, however, no work gets done on Morti. {pulls out the hanky, and wipes away the eye-sweat} I'll see everyone when my box is back.

Don’t you hate it when that happens?

Personally I only ever scan the drive with the OS on unless I think I have a bad infection, then the scan only takes a little while because my Windows drives are small partitioned drives normally around 50GIG max and the vast majority of viruses resided on the windows drive.

I still am a supporter of Microsoft Security Essentials free anti virus, I have put it on my customers PC’s, I use it, my family and friends use it and so far nothing has got through, I’m not saying its perfect but none of them are and I’m a strong believer that if anyone knows how to protect Windows its MS.

Good luck GeekCaveCreations.

Tried out Ubuntu. Did not care for it. Could not figure out how to add links to Applications, could not figure out how to alter environment variables, could not get apps to run. If I wanted to learn how not to make an operating system I'd use Ubuntu.  >:(

@Datahopa

The structure of my drives is such that normally all I have to do is do a full scan on the OS drive, but the nature of the suspected infection is such that just about any file that's even viewed in Explorer is susceptible to infection. And with 5 physical drives that range in size from 80GB to 250GB and split into 8 logical drives, the process of scanning all of the drives is a time consuming one. When the time comes for me to upgrade to a Terrabyte drive, I think I'll have to burn about ~100 DVD's to back up all of my archived files. That will probably cut about 70% of what I have stored out of the equation, and allow me to remove 3 of the current 5 drives. Call me anal, but I'm a huge fan of complete separation of data and applications from the OS. I have dedicated drives (either physical or logical) for the OS, applications, games, data, my web server the OS's swap file, and archived data. It took me months of research to come up with a combination of virgin registry hives and script files that allow me to do a complete format and re-install of Windows with total separation of the OS (Not even the "Documents and Settings" folder is on the OS's drive) from programs and data in less than 10 hours, including doing all the fun of Windows Update.

@Irh9

The only reason I use Windows at all is because the majority of the applications I currently use or have used in the past either don't have a *nix compatible version, or don't play well with WINE.

BTW, it's now 5:35AM here, and the scan is on the next to last drive. Unfortunately, the last 2 drives have more data on them than all of the other drives combined. :(
