Wow, those are bigguns  :o

I think I may have a dwarf variety, but time will tell.

But no, the one time I went to Kew I was very good and did not pinch anything....honest.   ::)

With all this plant talk, I thought I'd mention this picture is of my vincas in my front yard.

O.K.  I'm done. Let's go back to the triffids.

Those are huge vincas Dusky - the ones we have are generally a lot shorter and more or less ground covering.  The ones in our garden have the same shape of flower but are blue. Useful plant.  Did you know if you pull off all the petals the stamen inside looks like a miniature ice cream cone - well the ones here do..

Mine are purple, pink, and white.  See the white one on the far left.
They are little over a foot tall.   I got down behind them and shot toward the house.
I kept the pic as a background for Sandee.

Vincas as ground cover?  That sounds so neat.  If ours grew like that, I would dig up my front lawn grass and plant all vincas.   If possible, love to see a photo as ground cover.
About 3 months I took some vinca babies from the front lawn bushes and put along back fence.  Here's how they look today.  Again purple and pink and one white.

They look nice like that Duskrider  8)

I can't get a picture of our vincas as it's a miserable, wet and gloomy day and they were cut back a while ago.  Mostly, here in our garden, they are in corners and not so much ground covering.  But they are great like that as they don't seem to mind the worst soil and a bad location.

Here's a picture though I found on the net :

And here's a useful page on the ones we have here in the UK :

http://www.vincaminor.org/

And another good page :

Maybe I can get some seeds some time and post them to you - do customs allow that ?

I like Vincas because they require no care, and are in bloom year round here in Florida.
I didn't know there such a thing as Vinca minor which is your ground cover.  It's very nice.  I not sure it will grow here but probably will.  I'm sure it's available for purchase.
Couple weeks ago I took about 20 babies from Vinca bushes out front and planted along side of house outside my computer room window.  They doing well and grown from 3" to around 6".   At about 8" they begin to flower.

Seems that you have the money and no time or the time but no money.  The days are getting cooler every day.  Been holding back about commenting on the vinca,  we have something sold as vinca,  green leaves that sometime contain white or yellow, never saw any with flowers.  Possibly it is the climate here and there are several varities I believe.

The last few days, I've been preparing for a trip to Tennessee to visit friends/family, and to attend my Niece's wedding on the 28th. I'm headed out tomorrow, and won't be back till the evening of November 2nd. I'm not sure if I'll have enough access to a computer to be able to stop in, but when I get back, I plan on putting together a photo essay of the trip, and possibly, another of the wedding. I hope there'll be enough space on my SD card for all of the pics! ;D
