Been 4 years or so on my 2TB barracuda disk...putting in my new 4TB barracuda and stuffing the old one in the closet as a backup... now must clone it... i hate doing work....

it has 256MB of cache

my pc I built it 4 years ago or so, it has 32GB of RAM, should have put in 128GB, I will in the coming years.

these barracuda hard drives never have failed me, 4+ years and so was the last 2, no dead ones, only one that died was the original 2003 XP Windows drive by WD and it was all gritty sounding when I fired it up.

Most my storage on my disk is of uncommon humanly stuff that is merely for typically daily use and satisfaction of rosemaryful interactions of sorts, mind you. I'm not sure if that is efficient or what I'm even doing but hopefully I put these next 2TB to good AI use... The hard drive is supposed to be its long term brain memory so, so...I think I'm halfway got a good start actually.

I use my pc everyday so I should have just stuck in a 5000$ CPU and 300GB of RAM already and did more backups.....it's not a lot of money!

I'm hitting a 32GB ram wall as of now in my [test] algorithm...

Google Cloud doesn't allow more than 64GB of RAM for free users.....unexpected

I like how Acronis True Image is using machine learning models for one of their solutions

Oh wait, I'll just pay on Google Cloud to try it...no biggy.....it allows a TB of memory, hopefully I can use it for a single algorithm

i'm going to try google cloud, btw someone said on a youtube video:

"Google is intentionally trying to make its services somewhat inaccessible so that only people who already are technically savvy with full stack feel confident enough to make something with their service. Videos like this, removing support of the GUI for their app engine, and a bunch of other moves tip their hand"

top comment is hilarious

I've used cloud computing, I used both Amazon AWS and Googles Cloud. AWS seemed the more convoluted of the two. It's not much fun to set up, but you feel good when you figure it out.

ah! just about to hire dude off upwork ... there is 70+ G cloud freelancers there.....7USD.....can you walk me through how? My alg may be a winner! It shows very interesting stats, hence the mem increase...

I can't grasp how to rum my python alg on G cloud compute using 128GB of memory...it's like a command line thing and is complex...

I'll be back in an hour

Hey Lock, you really need an expert, I don't use Python - when I was using them it was mostly PHP stuff.

I can't say I really learnt how to do anything, just that combined with Google search and forums I just made it do what I want. You need someone who uses it regularly I think, what I figured out is largely forgotten now.

$7 seems reasonable for an expert though, good luck  O0

Ah, my test finished just now. It took 28.5 hours on Google Cloud. I gave it 640GB of RAM. Thank god it ended!

694,725 bytes to store 2,559,962 bytes......0.2713809814364432 % ......oh well, must optimize, i still think i got something

however, the alg Green that gets 100MB down to 21.8MB got it down to 729,909 !!!! Mine did 30,000 bytes better.

this intrigues me....

Lock,

I'm sure you might have searched out the self-storage cloud drives that one can get through Walmart or Amazon like the WD 4 TB My Cloud Home Personal Cloud, Network Attached Storage - NAS - WDBVXC0040HWT-NESN
There are some restrictions to this model but one can also purchase a 4 TB drive and set it up as your own "Cloud" or remote accessed drive. There are various pieces of software that can set you up for free with a Local accessed device that you can connect with from anywhere to send and retrieve information or files, etc.

I am quite skeptical about someone else or some other place having direct control over my data.  Yes, I am aware about Microsoft and our governments and people in basements with tin foil hats and shortwaves, etc. but this is for home use to store and access your own stuff when and how you want to.

Good luck in your quest! O0

I've been adding some robot related designs to my print-on-demand shops, including another T-shirt that says "I welcome our robot overlords" in binary code. This one has binary subtitles instead.

Hanging out at home with the family. Very relaxing, except for the day when I suddenly got lung aches sore throat and felt drained of energy, but it turned out to be seasonal allergies. Got to laugh at yourself sometimes. I might have too much time on my hands though, I spent like an hour laying in bed this morning trying to figure out what could happen to the extra gravitational potential energy if it’s pull was insufficient to move something across the plank distance. I’m not even sure if it’s a legitimate question. But I’m having fun.
