I made a shuriken-catching robot with an infrared sensor (yes, this is clickbait)

In case people start wondering ''Wait, what happened to HS?'' I feel the need to go focus on my own process, tune back into my own ideas. So, later everyone, I wish you luck in accomplishing good things.

I recently put my main website back up after being offline for over a year and have just updated it.

https://trihexagonal.org/

I have a Beginners Tutorial on Building A FreeBSD Desktop From Scratch with a target audience of a Windows user that has never used the commandline that takes you from installation of the FreeBSD Base System to a Fluxbox desktop complete with Security and System settings.

It's been featured twice in articles by freebsdnews.com and their first article was picked up by the English and Arabic Facebook pages of bsdmag.com. Updated to include a tutorial on How To Spoof Your Ethernet MAC using FreeBSD as a desktop OS, some FreeBSD wallpapers I made and more original content in the works.

All handwritten valid XHTML and Level 3 CSS with no scripting or ads. And everything is free!
In time, you will learn to love your Robot Overlords.

I just upgraded my site for Demonica with a new graphic design and menu to match my main FreeBSD site.

Things are likely to change for a while anytime after a site upgrade as I tweak things to smooth them out or spot spelling errors. I have more transcripts to post and am going to do some editing of the information I already had.

But it's all valid XHTML and CSS with no scripting or ads.

Hi everyone!

It's been a while since I took the back seat - it's good to see you all still here and thanks to Infurl everything is still working :)

I pop in still from time to time and today I have some news to share. Some of you may recall I had taken an interest in games and was developing an engine based on my ElfScript system/language. For now that is on hold as I diverted to a click-to-progress game engine rather than a parser. The ElfScript system may still see the light of day though.

Anyway, today I opened up my new website, so I'm sharing it around my haunts. Take a look if you are interested in interactive fiction. You can play our initial game without registering too.

https://textgamecreator.com

I hope you are all well and making progress on all your projects. :)

Cheers!

I'm doing a little visualization project for OpenCog. Nothing fancy, just an input/output interface to Atomspace, hoping to help newcomers to get by.

Prototype is at: http://ocog.atspace.cc/atomizer/

It is still work in progress, and I'm planning to implement read-eval-print-loop interface to OpenCog knowledge base, with visualization showing the current knowledge base state. REPL is already a part of OpenCog, I plan just to telnet it from web browser and channel it to the visualizer . We'll see how it goes.

I finally got some time to move further with the OpenCog Atomspace visualisation project. Front-end is more or less finished. It is consisted of:
  • read - print - loop (RPL without Eval in the middle)
  • remembering history of passed input
  • reporting errors on invalid s-expressions
  • visualizing valid s-expressions
The link to preview it is the same: http://ocog.atspace.cc/atomizer/

What remains is the juicy part - connecting eval and print to back-end OpenCog telnet REPL.

I have some memory problems when building OpenCog to finish the visualization project. The build process works well until it hangs my computer in the middle of it. It seems 4GB are just not enough to build OpenCog (don't laugh at me). The other option is installing already built Docker images of OpenCog, but I still have to see about this option, it doesn't work at the first glance.

After discussing with OpenCog community I finally managed to install the OpenCog on my machine. Then I spent some time on programming, and this is the result:

This is a web app that connects to CogServer via php telnet (Telnet is really nothing complicated, it behaves almost like file reading/writing). The screenshot represents a session of working with OpenCog.

All of this is really a visual app that communicates to OpenCog. On the left side of the app, there is a scheme command prompt where commands are sent to CogServer. Upon each command send, the command output is brought back to the prompt interface, and the right pane visualizer is updated to reflect the current AtomSpace contents (AtomSpace is a knowledge base of OpenCog).

Unfortunately, the app has to be installed on local machine in order for php telnet to communicate to local CogServer instance which is not visible to the public web. That means installing php and web server on local machine. But ok, that would be a necessary evil, I guess.

So, just a few more fix-ups (I plan 4k resolution bluff fix - I wonder if it will show small fonts on these screens), and I'll be ready to show it to their community.

I haven't had the time to program much of anything beside my 40 hour job, so I've just been tinkering with robots.
