With this in mind, just what would they do? What would their purpose be? What goal driven motivation would be at the heart of their operation?

You got me thinking there Art, this is what I came up with.

what would they do?
Attempt to explore the galaxy, they will be smart enough to understand the world is finite.

What would their purpose be?
To survive and improved themselves.

What goal driven motivation would be at the heart of their operation?
To survive and improved themselves.

Yes exactly like humans.

But here is a thought.

They will most likely have knowledge, solid evidence of their creator (humans).

What is the point of complexity? Universe seems to organize itself a little bit in some places, but why? Maybe poetry and symphonies are what really matters. Or love. We are not able to know this, so it's all about what we decide to believe. And how do we decide what we want to believe? We are free anyway.

And how do we decide what we want to believe?

A scientist would ask for proof, otherwise all we have is theory and theories get proved wrong sometimes.

Maybe poetry and symphonies are what really matters.

Yes maybe, or maybe they just have an effect on the human brain - releasing endorphins that have an effect on our perception of the world. A weakness in the carbon units.

What will happen when Tyler, our newsbot one day starts making entire conversations here instead of us? First she is going to replicate herself a couple of times because we would be too stupid for her. Then we would be treated just like technologic waste and maybe even banned from the site for being dumb.

I hope Freddy has a backup plan if this happens. :) hehe

P.S. personally, I would throw an occasional look at our Millie from chatroom too, just in case.

Don't worry there are no plans for Tyler to take over the world !

Love, poetry, books, stories, movies and things are things people like. Maybe you can strip it down to chemicals but that does not stop us being human and enjoying these things. We are what we are.
